Description
CarShield is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Level 2/3) for its growing infrastructure team. Position responsibilities include designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the local and wide area networks of the organization to ensure maximum uptime for users.
Essential Functions and Daily Duties
- Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks.
- Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP.
- Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, and switching.
- Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
- SSL/TLS certificate management: issuing, installing, and renewing certs.
- Web Application Firewall (WAF) administration.
- Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, VPN, and firewall problems end to end.
- Investigating faults in the network.
- Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
- Reporting network status to key stakeholders.
- Strong ability to work both autonomously and with direction.
- Experience working in an ITSM environment and strong documentation skills.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be able to work in-office in St. Peters, MO, 5 days a week (this position is fully on-site).
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in networking and 2+ years in cloud engineering.
- Strong understanding of networking equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls and VPN appliances. (Cisco ASA/Firepower, Nexus, Catalyst Checkpoint).
- Deep operational experience ensuring efficient troubleshooting and speed to problem resolution.
- Strong working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including IPsec, network segmentation, VRFs, Switching, VLANs and load balancers.
- Strong understanding of identity management, federated identity systems (Microsoft ADFS), MFA, and Active Directory integration with cloud apps and Azure AD.
- Current knowledge of DevOps, containerization, security, and observability.
- Scripting ability to enable automation and deployment of infrastructure as code, interacting with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) with Terraform, Azure PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
- SNMP for monitoring and device management: v2c vs v3, community strings, traps/polling, MIBs/OIDs.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, and ability to communicate complex technical ideas to many audiences.
