Description
The EPC Cost Manager is a hands-on operations role responsible for managing all execution and contractor costs across Fermi America’s EPC projects. Reporting directly to the Director of Project Controls, this position owns project-level cost control, forecasting, and reporting entirely within the operations organization — managing and consolidating contractor costs, tracking commitments, actuals, accruals, and forecasts, and delivering accurate, timely cost information to project and operations leadership. This position concentrates on driving cost performance and control at the project and portfolio level within operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and consolidate all execution and contractor costs across the EPC project portfolio into a single operations view.
- Manage and control the cost of the Power Assets for Project Matador.
- Own the project cost control cycle — budgets, commitments, accruals, actuals, ETC/EAC forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain project cost forecasts and cash flow across the project life cycle.
- Track contractor, equipment, and major procurement costs and their impact on project budgets.
- Review, validate, and approve contractor invoices, purchase orders, commitments, and change orders against contract terms.
- Manage contractors to maintain contractual cost and reporting requirements and hold them accountable.
- Support the change process — quantifying and tracking cost impacts of trends, change orders, and claims.
- Coordinate with project controls scheduling to support earned value and integrated cost/schedule reporting.
- Produce cost reports, dashboards, and analysis for project and operations leadership.
- Produce accurate, complete, and timely cost information and data that enable senior leadership to make informed decisions on projects.
- Drive cost governance, process, and controls improvements within operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of EPC or capital project cost control/management experience on the execution/operations side.
- Strong command of project cost controls — commitments, accruals, actuals, ETC/EAC, and cash flow forecasting.
- Experience managing contractor costs and enforcing contract cost requirements (invoice/PO/change-order validation).
- Proficiency with cost-management systems (Oracle Unifier or equivalent) and advanced Excel.
- Experience in power, oil & gas, data center, or large capital/industrial construction.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
