Description

At ValpakClipp, the Director of National Sales is responsible for driving national revenue growth by developing and expanding relationships with large, multi-location, and nationally branded advertisers. This role leads strategic sales efforts across direct response, retail, and agency channels, positioning Valpak’s integrated print and digital marketing solutions as high-impact drivers of customer acquisition and retention.


The Director will act as a trusted advisor to senior decision makers, delivering consultative, insight-driven marketing strategies that align Valpak’s portfolio with client business objectives. Success in this role requires strong executive presence, deep media expertise, and a proven ability to close and grow large-scale, long-term partnerships.


Key Responsibilities

Revenue Growth & Sales Leadership

  • Prospect a minimum of 20 hours per week on telephone cold-calling todefine and identify a qualified list of prospects. 
  • Establish relationships to reach key decision makers in companies that are aligned with our products and services.
  • Own and achieve national revenue targets by identifying, developing, and closing high-value, multi-market client opportunities.
  • Drive new business development while expanding and renewing existing national client relationships.
  • Lead complex sales cycles from prospecting through contract negotiation and close.

Strategic Client Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with senior-level decision makers (CMO, VP Marketing, Media Directors, Agency Leadership).
  • Conduct discovery to understand client objectives, challenges, and media strategies.
  • Position Valpak and ValpakClipp as strategic partners delivering measurable ROI.

Integrated Marketing Solutions

  • Develop and present customized, client-specific marketing plans leveraging the full Valpak portfolio across print and digital platforms.
  • Deliver compelling, executive-level presentations that clearly articulate value, strategy, and performance impact.
  • Collaborate internally with marketing, analytics, operations, and client services to ensure seamless execution.

Sales Operations & Forecasting

  • Maintain accurate prospect and client activity within CRM systems.
  • Build and manage revenue forecasts with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Monitor pipeline health and proactively manage opportunities to ensure consistent performance.

Market & Industry Expertise

  • Stay current on trends in direct marketing, digital media, retail advertising, and agency models.
  • Represent Valpak professionally at industry meetings, client presentations, and key market events.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in media, advertising, or marketing sales, preferably at a national level.
  • Demonstrated success selling integrated print and digital solutions to national brands and/or agencies.
  • Proven track record of developing senior-level relationships resulting in $1M+ annual revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of direct marketing, direct response, digital advertising, and agency buying models.
  • Existing industry contacts within direct marketing, media, or agency environments preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and executive-level presentation skills.
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and closing abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and digital communication tools.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and operate with urgency.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely in a results-driven environment

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 30% as needed.
  • Must be able to work effectively from a home office while maintaining strong collaboration with internal teams.

Compensation Structure

  • Base salary + performance-based bonus
  • Bonus tied to total brand revenue growth, including both centralized and decentralized contributions
