Position Purpose:
The IT & Security Intern provides entry-level technical support and assists with the daily operations of the Tribe's information technology and cybersecurity functions. This position provides hands-on experience supporting enterprise technology systems while assisting IT staff with user support, hardware and software deployments, system maintenance, documentation, and cybersecurity initiatives. The IT & Security Intern will assist with technology projects, perform routine administrative tasks, and support the implementation of secure technology practices across Tribal departments under the guidance of IT & Security staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide basic technical support and assistance to Tribal staff for common hardware, software, and technology issues.
- Assist with computer deployments, equipment installations, office moves, and technology setup activities.
- Assist with user account setup, access requests, password resets, and multi-factor authentication enrollment.
- Perform inventory management and maintain accurate records of hardware, software, and technology assets.
- Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, peripherals, and other technology equipment.
- Assist IT & Security staff with system documentation, procedures, and knowledge base updates.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives, including user awareness activities, security tool deployments, and compliance-related tasks.
- Assist with routine maintenance activities for technology systems as assigned.
- Participate in technology projects and gain hands-on experience with enterprise IT systems.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of Tribal information and systems.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to Tribal staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
- Ability to communicate professionally with users and IT staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive Tribal information.
Preferred:
- Prior IT support, help desk, customer service, or technical experience.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, or basic networking concepts.
- Experience assembling, troubleshooting, or maintaining computers.
- Interest in pursuing IT certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Interact professionally with other team members, customers, and suppliers.
- Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other team members and organizations.
Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.

- This position requires access to confidential, sensitive, and protected Tribal information, including information governed by applicable federal, Tribal, gaming, and criminal justice requirements. The employee is expected to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and security in accordance with Tribal policies, applicable laws, and professional standards. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, in accordance with Tribal policy.

Work Requirements:
Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, or carrying 30 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and / or temperature.
