Description

SCHEDULE:  40 hours, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with availability for on call rotation per policy. There may be an additional need for availability in the event of an emergency.


PAYS:  $21.40 - $23.33 per hour, DOE (Salary  ranges provided are based on relevant experience and skill set) 

 

LOCATION:  Primarily Shelters: Main Campus 444 Harrison Ave Boston

  

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:


The Maintenance Technician is responsible for but not limited to the day-to-day maintenance including grounds work, plumbing, minor electrical work, basic carpentry, troubleshooting H.V.A.C and food service equipment, wall repair, Building Engine PM, painting, special projects and seasonal snow removal.

QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION/TRAINING:


REQUIRED: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read printed labels and instructions

PREFERRED: 

  • Hoisting License Certification or basic training certification in Building Maintenance
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


REQUIRED: 

  • Minimum of three (3) years of maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of building trades such as painting, plumbing, carpentry and electrical      systems

PREFERRED: 

  • Previous experience in Building Maintenance
  • Building System software work order Program

PHYSICAL ABILITIES/SKILLS:


REQUIRED: 

  • Frequent bending, standing, stooping, stretching, and lifting
  • Ability to lift heavy objects 50 – 100 lbs. assisted, such as appliances and furniture
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and access all areas of the buildings 
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations
  • Participate in the Emergency on Call Rotation per set schedule (typically once per month)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet all PSI Safe Driver Criteria. Operate equipment and delivery 12-passenger vans and box trucks for maintenance during winter season
