Hot Melt Machine Operator
Description

  

The Hot Melt Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring pleating and/or filter assembly equipment used in the production of filtration products. This role ensures products are manufactured to specification while meeting quality standards, safety requirements, and production targets.

  

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor pleating and/or filter assembly machines 
  • Adjust machine parameters (pleat height, spacing, tension, adhesive application, cure times) to meet product specifications 
  • Load raw materials including filter media, frames, and adhesives 
  • Inspect pleats, bonds, and finished filters for defects, uniformity, and dimensional accuracy 
  • Identify and segregate  non-conforming materials in accordance with quality procedures 
  • Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance 
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues and escalate as needed 
  • Accurately complete production  records, work orders, and equipment logs 
  • Follow standard operating  procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and work instructions 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, waste reduction) 
  • Collaborate with quality,  maintenance, and production teams to meet daily output goals 

   

Requirements

  

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED  required 
  • 1–3 years of machine operation  experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Experience with pleating or automated assembly equipment preferred 
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills 
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and product specifications 
  • Basic math and measurement skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts) 
  • Ability to lift up to 35–40 lbs 
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination 
  • Ability to work around moving machinery, noise, and industrial materials 

  

Work Environment

  • Industrial manufacturing facility producing filtration products 
  • Exposure to filter media, adhesives, and production equipment 
  • Required use of PPE (safety  glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) 

  

Preferred Experience

  • Experience operating hot melt or  similar pleating/mini-pleat equipment 
  • Background in air filtration  manufacturing 
  • Familiarity with production  tracking systems (ERP) 
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma  experience
