The Hot Melt Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring pleating and/or filter assembly equipment used in the production of filtration products. This role ensures products are manufactured to specification while meeting quality standards, safety requirements, and production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor pleating and/or filter assembly machines
- Adjust machine parameters (pleat height, spacing, tension, adhesive application, cure times) to meet product specifications
- Load raw materials including filter media, frames, and adhesives
- Inspect pleats, bonds, and finished filters for defects, uniformity, and dimensional accuracy
- Identify and segregate non-conforming materials in accordance with quality procedures
- Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues and escalate as needed
- Accurately complete production records, work orders, and equipment logs
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and work instructions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, waste reduction)
- Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and production teams to meet daily output goals
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with pleating or automated assembly equipment preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and product specifications
- Basic math and measurement skills

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts)

Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing facility producing filtration products
- Exposure to filter media, adhesives, and production equipment
- Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating hot melt or similar pleating/mini-pleat equipment
- Background in air filtration manufacturing
- Familiarity with production tracking systems (ERP)
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
