The Bistro Attendant is responsible for creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for hotel guests while maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked Bistro area. This position supports daily food and beverage operations, provides friendly and attentive guest service, and ensures all food safety, cleanliness, and Athena Hospitality Group standards are consistently followed.


The ideal candidate is dependable, guest-focused, energetic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hotel environment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests to the Bistro with a friendly, professional, and positive attitude.
  • Prepare, replenish, and present food and beverage items according to hotel and brand standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and attractive Bistro area throughout the shift.
  • Monitor food levels and restock items as needed.
  • Prepare coffee, beverages, and other Bistro offerings according to established procedures.
  • Assist guests with questions regarding menu items, food ingredients, and available options.
  • Provide attentive service while maintaining a professional and hospitable demeanor.
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, temperature, and presentation.
  • Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Properly store food, beverages, and supplies according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of counters, tables, equipment, floors, and surrounding areas.
  • Operate Bistro equipment safely and properly.
  • Assist with opening and closing Bistro procedures.
  • Complete cleaning and sanitation duties according to daily and scheduled checklists.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to management.
  • Minimize food waste and use products responsibly.
  • Process guest transactions accurately when applicable.
  • Follow cash-handling procedures and maintain accountability for assigned funds.
  • Respond to guest concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is needed.
  • Work cooperatively with Front Desk, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other hotel departments.
  • Support the hotel team during high-occupancy periods, special events, and other operational needs.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and follow the property's dress and grooming standards.
  • Follow all Athena Hospitality Group policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Requirements

Qualifications


  • Previous customer service, food service, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the property.

Preferred:

  • Previous hotel or Bistro experience.
  • Food safety or food handler certification, where required by applicable law.
  • Cash-handling or point-of-sale experience.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and move throughout the work area.
  • Ability to lift and carry food, beverage, and supply items as required.
  • Ability to safely operate standard Bistro and food-service equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily within a hotel Bistro, food-service, and guest-facing environment. The employee may be exposed to varying temperatures, hot food and beverage equipment, cleaning products, and other conditions typical of a hotel food-service operation.
