Corporate Development / M&A Analyst
Description

Position Summary:

The Corporate Development / M&A Analyst is responsible for supporting the ongoing acquisition efforts of ISG in the rotating equipment industry. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Analyst will support the Corporate Development team across the full deal lifecycle — pipeline management, target analysis, due diligence, closing, and post-close integration — and will own the upkeep of the team’s deal data, CRM, AI and analytics tools.

The position is designed as a development seat: the Analyst will learn ISG’s end-to-end acquisition process with a defined growth path toward the Senior M&A Analyst role, taking on increasing ownership of target analysis, valuation, and diligence project management over time with an emphasis on developing AI Agents to streamline processes. The position will also selectively support the FP&A team with developmental exposure to Controllership projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the acquisition pipeline in ISG’s CRM — target records, deal stages, NDA status, and banker / broker outreach tracking.
  • Assisting in the identification, research, and screening of acquisition targets, including industry research and preparation of target profiles and introductory-call materials.
  • Spreading target financial statements into ISG’s databook and valuation model; assisting in the analysis of profitability, growth trends, and EBITDA adjustments with the team.
  • Supporting the preparation of internal question lists, analysis summaries, and IOI / LOI support materials for review with the deal team and ISG subject-matter experts.
  • Coordinating the collection and review of data during the due diligence process — organizing the data room, maintaining request trackers, and coordinating with third-party diligence providers (quality of earnings, tax, insurance, benefits, legal, and environmental).
  • Supporting the preparation and collection of data to complete the closing process for an acquisition, including Net Working Capital calculations, Flow of Funds and Closing Statement preparation in unison with counsel.
  • Supporting the post-closing Integration plans of an acquired company — 100-day plan tracking, budget development support, and assisting in the true-up process for the final Closing Statement.
  • Building and maintaining the team’s reporting and analytics in Excel and Power BI and leveraging ISG’s data and AI-assisted analysis tools to improve the speed and quality of deal evaluation.
  • Supporting and assisting the team with other strategic or critical projects as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
  • 1–2 years of experience in M&A, investment banking, transaction advisory / valuation, public accounting, or FP&A. Exposure to the M&A process (internship or deal experience) is a plus but not required.
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis aptitude; advanced Excel skills required, Power BI or similar tools a plus.
  • Comfort working with modern data and AI-assisted analysis tools, or a demonstrated eagerness to learn them.
  • Strong organizational skills and a professional presence to interact with sellers, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects.
