Property & Casualty Claims Advocate
Description

The Property & Casualty (P&C) Claims Advocate serves as a strategic advisor and advocate for clients, leading complex property and casualty claim matters from initial reporting through resolution. This role partners closely with clients, carriers, legal counsel, and internal teams to analyze coverage, evaluate claim strategies, negotiate favorable outcomes, and protect client interests throughout the claims process. By leveraging deep expertise in policy interpretation, claims advocacy, and negotiation, the Claims Advocate proactively challenges coverage positions when appropriate, identifies opportunities to maximize recovery and reduce claim costs, and provides consultative guidance that supports clients' overall risk management objectives.


Responsibilities

Client Relationship & Advocacy

  • Build strong relationships with clients and understand their business, associated risks, and exposures.
  • Act as a liaison and advocate between clients and carrier partners.
  • Respond to client questions and concerns, ensuring they remain informed throughout the claim lifecycle.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients on claim denials or reservation of rights by analyzing policy language to determine all appropriate avenues to seek coverage. Conduct an in-depth review of all coverage positions, challenging when appropriate.
  • Support clients through the carrier claim process and recommend post-claim management strategies.
  • Assist insureds with negotiating total loss of auto settlements.


Claims Management & Resolution

  • Proactively manage property/casualty claims programs for assigned clients.
  • Perform key client work and consistently meet service plan deadlines.
  • Prepare and coordinate in-person and telephonic claims reviews with carriers, risk advisors, and clients.
  • Negotiate claim matters with adjuster, adjuster’s supervisors, or claims managers.
  • Identify and request reserve reductions from claims adjusters when appropriate.
  • Proactively identify strategic claim resolution strategies and partner with adjusters, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to implement action plans.


Collaboration & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner closely with Risk Advisors, Client Managers, and clients to develop and execute claim strategies aligned with business objectives, risk management priorities, and coverage intent. 
  • Collaborate with carrier adjusters, claims managers, and underwriting partners to facilitate effective communication, address claim challenges, and drive favorable claim outcomes. 
  • Serve as a strategic resource to internal teams by providing claims expertise, coverage interpretation, and guidance on emerging claim trends and risk considerations. 
  • Lead and participate in claim review meetings with clients, carriers, and Risk Advisors to assess claim performance, identify areas of concern, and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups to ensure coordinated claim management, consistent communication, and exceptional client service. 
  • Influence stakeholders through effective advocacy, negotiation, and problem-solving to protect client interests and achieve equitable claim resolutions


Coverage Review & Research

  • Conduct special claim coverage research as needed.
  • Review clients with claims for adequate coverage and recommend changes to Client Managers or insureds and documents.
  • Notify Claims Team Lead, Risk Advisor, and Client Manager of large claims.
  • Communicate with carriers to develop special handling instructions and improve communication between all parties.
  • Be able to explain and recommend post claims management strategies to internal and external clients. Support and guide clients through the carrier claim process. Act as an advocate for the best and most expedient resolution of claims.


Documentation & Compliance

  • Record all activities in claims files within the agency management system.
  • Stay current on marketplace developments, product offerings, and evolving insurance consumer trends.
  • Provide mentorship to Claims Support Specialists and Claims Interns.
Requirements

Education | Experience

  • Minimum 3 years handling complex liability claims; 5-7 years preferred.
  • Current P&C license or willingness to obtain withing 90 days.
  • AIC or other insurance designations preferred.
  • Experience in claims, negotiation, and client advocacy.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships and effectively influence clients, Risk Advisors, Client Managers, carriers, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to achieve strategic claim outcomes while protecting client interests.


Physical Demands

  • This role’s physical exertion is sedentary and within an office environment. 
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. 
  • Substantial movements and repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers. 
  • Individuals should have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer, and extensive reading.
