Pay Range: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour, based on experience


About the Role

Coast Counties Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Parts Specialist to join our Parts Department. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to identify, source, and sell the correct parts for trucks and equipment.

This position works closely with retail customers, fleet customers, technicians, and our Service Department to provide accurate parts information, competitive solutions, and exceptional customer service. The Heavy-Duty Parts Specialist should be comfortable working independently, solving parts-related problems, sourcing hard-to-find components, and managing multiple customer requests in a fast-paced environment.


Essential Duties


· Determine the correct heavy-duty truck part based on make, model, year, application, VIN, customer description, or inspection of the worn or damaged component.

· Use parts catalogs, electronic parts systems, inventory software, and other resources to identify part numbers, availability, pricing, and applications.

· Explain the use, features, benefits, and differences between various heavy-duty truck parts and components.

· Assist customers at the parts counter, over the phone, and through other communication channels.

· Process customer parts orders accurately and efficiently.

· Fill customer orders from stock and ensure parts are properly identified and delivered.

· Locate and source parts that are not in stock by utilizing local vendors, dealerships, suppliers, and other available resources.

· Provide customers with available options, substitutions, modifications, and freight/shipping solutions when the requested part is unavailable.

· Work closely with the Service Department to identify and source parts needed for repair orders.

· Provide accurate pricing, availability, and estimated delivery information to customers and internal departments.

· Examine returned parts to determine eligibility for return, exchange, warranty, or credit.

· Process and organize returned parts, cores, and warranty-related items according to company procedures.

· Maintain accurate parts inventory and assist with cycle counting and inventory control.

· Complete PACCAR training programs and assigned training workbooks.

· Maintain accurate stock locations and organize parts in the stockroom and warehouse.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Parts Department.

· Perform core returns, stock replenishment, shipping and receiving duties as assigned.

· Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and Parts Department processes.

· Provide professional, knowledgeable, and responsive customer service at all times.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of heavy-duty truck parts experience or a comparable combination of education and experience.



We are looking for someone who:

· Has strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and applications.

· Can confidently identify parts and determine the correct replacement.

· Understands OEM and aftermarket parts and sourcing options.

· Has experience working with repair shops, technicians, fleets, and/or commercial truck customers.

· Can research and source difficult-to-find parts.

· Is comfortable using computerized parts catalogs and inventory systems.

· Can prioritize multiple customer and Service Department requests.

· Takes ownership of customer issues and follows through until they are resolved.

· Works well independently while also being a strong team player.

· Maintains a professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

· 5 years of related heavy-duty parts experience and/or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Heavy-duty truck parts experience strongly preferred.

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Valid driver's license.

· Clean DMV record.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Skills & Technical Competencies

· Knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts, components, and applications.

· Experience with electronic parts catalogs and inventory systems.

· Knowledge of inventory control and order processing procedures.

· Ability to research and source parts through multiple vendors and suppliers.

· Basic proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel.

· Ability to learn and utilize PACCAR training and company systems.



Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.

· Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

· Ability to use common sense and good judgment when resolving customer and parts-related issues.

· Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle parts, reach, talk, and hear.

· Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

· Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

· Ability to work safely around truck parts, equipment, warehouse areas, and service operations.
