Drafter
Description

The Drafter is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining technical drawings and models to support engineering, manufacturing, and production. Reporting to the Sustaining Manager, this role will work closely with Engineering and other cross-functional teams to maintain accurate product documentation, support engineering changes, and develop drawings and models for new and existing products. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD and SolidWorks. 
  • Develop detailed drawings from engineering designs, sketches, specifications, and existing products. 
  • Maintain and update drawings and models for existing products to support engineering changes, product improvements, and production needs. 
  • Prepare drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing details. 
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with engineering and drafting standards. 
  • Support engineering change orders (ECOs), drawing revisions, and related documentation. 
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other departments to resolve drawing, design, and production-related issues. 
  • Maintain accurate drawing files, revision histories, and technical documentation. 
  • Assist with bills of materials (BOMs) and other product documentation as needed. 
  • Provide drafting support for new product designs and modifications to existing products. 
  • Identify drawing or documentation discrepancies and work with appropriate team members to resolve them. 
  • Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement activities. 
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned. 
Requirements
  • Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, mechanical design, or a related field preferred. 
  • 3+ years of drafting experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or similar technical environment. 
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, including SolidWorks and Onshape, for both 2D drawing creation and 3D modeling. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. 
  • Working knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, and standard drafting practices. 
  • Experience with engineering change processes, BOMs, and document control preferred. 
  • Knowledge of GD&T preferred. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. 
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
