We are seeking a dynamic, people-focused leader to oversee our Patient Escort Services program at the Durham VA Medical Center. Your Impact

As the Patient Escort Supervisor, you will provide hands-on leadership and operational oversight to ensure the Patient Escort Services program consistently meets and exceeds service expectations. You will serve as a key liaison between DECI staff and VA personnel, ensuring quality, efficiency, safety, and compliance while fostering a positive and supportive work environment.


You will:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor Patient Escorts and Dispatchers on assigned shifts.
  • Oversee daily operations, staffing coordination, workflow management, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure compliance with VA requirements, DECI policies, safety standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct performance observations, provide real-time coaching, and facilitate staff development.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, respect, and customer-focused service.
  • Assist in resolving operational and personnel challenges while maintaining a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Support Veterans by ensuring escort services are delivered efficiently, safely, and compassionately.

Schedule & Additional Details

  • Shift Hours: 7:30 PM - 3:30 AM (Third Shift)
  • Occasional weekends or holidays may be required.
  • VA background check required.



Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of successful work experience in a related field.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Ability to qualify as a Paraprofessional or Associate Professional under Medicaid guidelines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable transportation.

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in healthcare, hospital operations, transportation services, or human services.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience managing teams in a service-oriented environment.
