General Responsibilities
Responsible for performing various duties to meet the commercial services needs of individuals or business customers as well as developing and managing relationships; achieving customer service goals as established in the division’s annual operating plan; directly supervising assigned personnel; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial lending function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports; providing guidance and on-the-job training to Commercial Loan Officer I(s) and II(s), and III(s).
Essential Duties
Performs a variety of duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers as follows:
- Manages an individual loan portfolio; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.
- Jointly establishes quantitative sales objectives, with assigned supervisor, on an annual basis; this activity to be integrated with the Bank’s annual budget.
- Makes outside calls and solicits new business from present and prospective customers.
- Provides sales information on a timely basis in order that this information may be included as part of customer service and sales performance reports.
- Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a regular basis; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis.
- Serves as a member of the Bank's sales team; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.
- Collects and analyzes financial, credit, and related information; provides direct service to commercial customers of the Bank with respect to deposit, loan, and other miscellaneous products and services; negotiates provisions and structures of loans
- Makes presentations to appropriate loan committee.
- Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.
- Maintains a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records of all customer service calls made and meetings held with present and prospective customers.
- Actively represents the Bank in public relations and other related community activities.
- May attend sales and trade meetings as a bank representative to develop new business and to gain information and leads on new business relationships.
- Monitors loan repayment activities of assigned loan portfolio.
Directly supervises assigned personnel as follows:
- Assists in the selection of new personnel as appropriate.
- Makes provisions for the proper orientation and training of new personnel.
- Reviews employee performance throughout the probationary period and on a regularly scheduled basis thereafter.
- Organizes, schedules, and distributes work among assigned personnel.
- Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the office and/or their jobs; creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged.
- Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by bank policy.
Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field normally required; specialized commercial banking education and/or training.
Skill(s): Must demonstrate strong communication skills; proficient written, analytical and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial lending; proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel; technical skills sufficient to provide guidance and training to Commercial Loan Officer I(s), II(s), and III(s).
Experience: A minimum of nine (9) years' experience in related positions normally required.
