Description

Who We Are:

The Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA) is the only vendor-neutral, non-profit membership community that connects and represents the worldwide IT channel. We set our members up for success by providing benefits that include trusted resources and networking opportunities. In addition, the association sets industry standards that enable companies to build sustainable, secure, and profitable businesses in an ever-changing technology landscape. Internationally, GTIA represents tens of thousands of professionals from more than 2,000 MSPs, solution providers, vendors, distributors, and other companies serving the channel.

We were formerly known as the CompTIA Community (the membership arm of CompTIA).  The association was renamed GTIA in 2025, but that’s not where our story begins. Our association has a long history of serving businesses in the IT channel and technology professionals.

Through education, training, philanthropy, and market research, GTIA promotes industry growth; we are committed to creating an environment where innovation happens, and the opportunities and benefits enabled by technology are available to all.

About the Alliance

Managed AI is the next major service category in the IT channel — and today it's forming without shared rules. The Managed Intelligence Alliance is GTIA's answer: a program that makes the delivery of Managed Intelligence repeatable, governable, and trustworthy at scale for providers, vendors, business users, and distributors. The Alliance operates across four pillars — Open Specifications, Capability Standards, Accreditation Programs (in partnership with the Consortium for Responsible IT Services and Texas A&M), and Research and Intelligence.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build the standards body for one of the channel's most consequential categories.

Summary

The Director, Managed Intelligence Alliance leads day-to-day operations of the Alliance on behalf of GTIA, turning the Alliance Charter into a running program – supporting the Executive Council and Technical Steering Committee, driving standards output and adoption, growing membership across paid tiers, and managing the Alliance budget with a disciplined, vendor-neutral hand. This role calls for someone who can operate as four things at once: a hands-on operator who keeps the program running, a skilled diplomat who builds trust across competing member interests, a category builder who grows the Alliance’s credibility, adoption, and legitimacy; and a trusted architect who designs the structures that hold it all together. The Director is GTIA's primary point of accountability for the Alliance's success and its compliance with GTIA's governance, antitrust, and brand standards – bringing sharp strategic thinking and the discipline to turn that thinking into action. This position reports to GTIA’s Chief Community Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Own day-to-day execution of the Alliance's four pillars: Open Specifications, Capability Standards, Accreditation Programs, and Research and Intelligence.
  • Translate Executive Council and Technical Steering Committee direction into a working operating plan, timeline, and budget.
  • Coordinate with GTIA's Consortium for Responsible IT Services (CRITS) partnership on accreditation program design.

Governance Support

  • Staff and support the Executive Council and Technical Steering Committee: prepare agendas, materials, and minutes; track decisions and follow-through.
  • Ensure Working Groups operate with written charters, documented agendas, and recorded minutes, and remain open to all Alliance members.
  • Track quorum, voting, and decision-making requirements accurately across both bodies.

Membership Growth

  • Recruit and retain Founding Parties (capped at 11), Alliance Partners, and GTIA Full Members participating in the Alliance.
  • Convert the founding roster into momentum: support publication of the first open specifications and capability standards under the GTIA banner.
  • Build the case for ITSP membership growth on the strength of the Alliance's standing and output.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure all Alliance activity complies with the standalone Antitrust Policy: mandatory IP disclosure, procedural safe harbor in working groups, counsel availability at substantive meetings, and objective, published accreditation criteria with an appeals process.
  • Route any accreditation or certification program through GTIA Legal for written sign-off before launch, confirming no conflict with GTIA's existing contractual obligations.
  • Uphold vendor-neutral governance: ensure published standards remain freely accessible to all GTIA members regardless of participation tier, and that no single member's commercial interests shape Alliance output.

Operations and Budget

  • Prepare the Alliance Annual Budget in consultation with the Executive Council for submission through GTIA's standard budget review (Audit, Finance, and Investment Committee, then GTIA Board).
  • Manage Alliance spend within the approved budget; flag any need for supplemental funding through the proper channel.
  • Draw on GTIA's existing infrastructure (legal, finance, research, events, marketing) rather than building parallel functions.

Brand and Communications

  • Maintain Alliance messaging and materials consistent with GTIA brand guidelines and voice (trusted and unbiased, inclusive and welcoming, confident and personable, optimistic and purpose-driven).
  • Represent the Alliance at GTIA events, including ChannelCon, and in public-facing communications about standards releases and research findings.

Key Performance Metrics

  • Within the first 12 months, the Alliance is fully operational – Executive Council and Technical Steering Committee are meeting on a regular cadence, governance processes are functioning end-to-end, and the Director has built close, trusted working relationships with board members to move the Alliance from charter to running program at speed.
  • A recognizable, credible Founding Party cohort secured alongside the Alliance Chair.
  • First open specifications and capability standards published under the GTIA banner.
  • Growing Alliance Partner and GTIA Full Member participation quarter over quarter.
  • Membership value visibly increasing as the body of published standards and research grows.
  • A clean compliance record: no antitrust incidents, no accreditation launches without Legal sign-off, no lapses in working group governance documentation.
