Description

Job Summary:

The CNA is responsible for assisting in the care of patients. Assist with activities of daily living, monitoring patient conditions, and supports nursing staff to ensure quality of patient and comfort in the hospital setting. Scheduled workdays and times may vary and will include weekends and holidays. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.
  • Supports patients emotionally and communicate respectfully with families. 
  • Maintain clean and safe patient rooms. 
  • Assist patients to ensure their cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, rest, activity, and elimination in a manner conducive to the patient’s comfort and safety. 
  • Take and record vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and measurements as applicable, in an accurate and precise manner.
  • Notifying the nurse of changes in the patient’s conditions in a timely and appropriate manner. 
  • Promptly answers call lights. 
  • Transports patients as needed throughout the facility. 
  • Helps prevent falls through frequent rounding. 
  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of equipment, work, and storage areas. 
  • Effectively communicates with co-workers on a timely basis including end of shift updates.
  • Uses critical thinking to make clinical decisions and set priorities related to workload management based on clinical knowledge and individual patient needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information.
  • Document care activities accurately in the patients’ health record. 
  • Is knowledgeable of general hospital and unit specific policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without notice.

  • Follows and maintains all lawful safety, health requirements, and regulations, and follows protocols for required protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promptly reports safety issues, job-related injury, or illness, near misses, etc. in SafetyZone.
  • Follows Hillsboro Health Standards of Behavior.


Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a state-approved CNA program. 
  • Previous CNA experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Active CNA certification/state registry status.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willing to obtain within 30 days or hire.

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE

Receives training and/or attends necessary meetings to meet the criteria as outlined in Hillsboro Health’s Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct. Understands the responsibilities related to compliance and knows whether to contact the Corporate Compliance Officer should there be any instance of question or concern regarding fraud and/or abuse.

$17:50 - $21.88 per hour
