Techknowledge Group (TKG)

About Techknowledge Group

Techknowledge Group is a white-glove HCM and payroll consulting firm. We act as a strategic partner — not just a vendor — helping organizations select, implement, optimize, and run their human capital management and payroll systems. Our services span HCM/payroll vendor selection, system implementation, system optimization, managed payroll and HR, concierge account support, and data/document migration. Clients choose TKG because we give them the hands-on, expert guidance that generic software vendors don't.

About the Role

We're hiring a mid-level Implementation & Optimization Consultant to own the client relationship well beyond go-live. This role covers the full lifecycle: leading clients through the initial transition onto new HCM and payroll platforms, and then staying engaged as their ongoing optimization partner — continuously refining configuration, workflows, and reporting as the client's needs evolve. You'll validate and migrate data, build and manage project plans, configure the system, train end users, and guide change management for new implementations, then transition into a recurring cadence of system health checks, process improvements, and platform updates for clients already live. This is a remote, client-facing role for someone who is comfortable being the expert in the room, enjoys long-term client relationships (not just one-and-done projects), and can independently manage a mixed caseload of new implementations and existing accounts.

What You'll Do

  • Lead full-cycle HCM/payroll system implementations for new TKG clients, from kickoff through go-live and post-launch support.
  • Build and manage detailed, transparent project plans, timelines, and milestones, and keep clients and internal stakeholders aligned throughout.
  • Validate, clean, and migrate client payroll, HR, and historical data into the new platform, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Configure HCM/payroll system settings (pay groups, earnings/deductions, workflows, tax setup, reporting) to match each client's requirements.
  • Train client administrators and end users on the new system and drive adoption through structured change management.
  • Own ongoing optimization for existing clients: proactively review system configuration, workflows, and reports to find efficiency and compliance improvements as their business changes.
  • Stay current on platform updates, new features, and releases from HCM/payroll vendors, and recommend/implement changes that keep clients' systems running at their best.
  • Serve as a client's day-to-day point of contact — during both the initial implementation and the long-term optimization relationship that follows — translating technical detail into clear, practical guidance.
  • Partner with TKG's managed payroll/HR and concierge teams to ensure a seamless handoff after go-live and continuity of support afterward.
  • Identify and troubleshoot data or configuration issues, escalating to vendor partners when needed.

Why TKG

  • Fully remote role with a flexible, supportive team culture.
  • Direct, meaningful client impact — you'll see projects through from kickoff to go-live, then keep making clients' systems better long after.
  • Competitive salary of $55,000–$70,000, based on experience.
  • Opportunity to grow with a specialized firm at the center of the HCM and payroll consulting space.

Techknowledge Group is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experience levels who are excited about helping clients get the most out of their HCM and payroll systems.

Requirements

 What You Bring

  • 3–5+ years of experience in payroll, HR, or HCM — ideally including hands-on implementation, configuration, migration, or system optimization work.
  • Working familiarity with one or more major HCM/payroll platforms (e.g., Paylocity, Paycor, Paycom, Rippling, or similar).
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance new implementations and ongoing client optimization work at the same time.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially around payroll data accuracy, tax setup, and compliance.
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication — you can explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A consultative, client-first mindset with genuine interest in long-term client relationships, not just closing out a one-time project.
  • A continuous-improvement mentality — you naturally look for ways to make an already-live system work better.
  • Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Proficiency with standard business tools (Microsoft 365, Excel/spreadsheets); experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting platforms is a plus.
  • Payroll or HR certification (e.g., CPP, FPC, PHR/SHRM-CP) is a plus but not required.
