Chief Engineer – KMVU / KFBI
KMVU/KFBI is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead all technical operations for our stations. This role oversees engineering strategy, staff development, regulatory compliance, and the maintenance of all broadcast and IT systems that keep our stations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Engineering leadership — Oversee all engineering functions across the stations
- Team management — Lead hiring, training, and development for Engineering and Master Control staff
- IT systems oversight — Manage maintenance of computer hardware, software, and local area network applications
- Software compliance — Ensure all software licenses are current and versions remain up to date
- Broadcast equipment maintenance — Supervise preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of cameras, audio/video systems, microwave transmitters/receivers, satellite receivers, and computing equipment
- Transmitter operations — Perform or supervise transmitter maintenance
- Regulatory compliance — Maintain station security and ensure full FCC compliance
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in broadcast electrical systems and equipment maintenance
- Proven experience training and managing technicians with a positive, constructive leadership style
- Strong proficiency in evaluating, troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining broadcast and IT systems
- Commitment to quality, time management, and FCC regulatory standards
- Valid driver’s license
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and evenings
- Ability to work on ladders, stand for long periods, and lift equipment up to 50 lbs
- Technical degree in electronics or related field preferred (or equivalent work/education experience)
