Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer – Print/Converting will provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support within Arrow’s print and converting operations. This role will focus on improving manufacturing quality, throughput, yield, changeover efficiency, waste reduction, and overall equipment effectiveness across Arrow’s bingo paper and pull tab production environments.

This person will work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Automation teams to evaluate existing processes, lead structured improvement projects, establish manufacturing standards, and identify opportunities for automation and process optimization across print, die cutting, collating, and finishing operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead structured continuous improvement projects across print, die cutting, collating, converting, and finishing work centers.
  • Own OEE data collection, analysis, and improvement roadmaps for assigned manufacturing lines.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase throughput, capacity, quality, and yield.
  • Drive changeover reduction initiatives across high-mix product families using SMED and other structured improvement methodologies.
  • Develop and document manufacturing process standards, work instructions, control plans, and other process documentation.
  • Support process mapping, process validation, statistical process control, and root cause analysis activities.
  • Identify automation opportunities based on labor intensity, production volume, error rates, quality concerns, and process efficiency.
  • Partner with Controls and Automation Engineering to implement process improvements and integrate new manufacturing technologies.
  • Support configure-to-order manufacturing processes involving variable data, short-run production, and high-mix product requirements.
  • Evaluate print and converting processes to identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve consistency, and lower manufacturing costs.
  • Support the development and implementation of production data collection, OEE monitoring, and manufacturing performance reporting.
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and other business partners to implement and sustain process improvements.
  • Support the evaluation and integration of new printing, converting, inspection, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across Arrow’s bingo paper and pull tab manufacturing operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a closely related manufacturing discipline.
  • Experience supporting printing, converting, paper, packaging, or similar manufacturing processes strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process improvement, throughput optimization, yield improvement, waste reduction, and changeover reduction.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Kaizen, process mapping, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience measuring, analyzing, and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Understanding of print and converting processes, including areas such as printing, die cutting, collating, finishing, and web handling.
  • Experience developing manufacturing standards, work instructions, process documentation, and control plans.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, process validation, and structured root cause analysis.
  • Experience working within high-mix manufacturing environments with short-run and extended-run production requirements.
  • Familiarity with variable data printing and the integration of digital and offset print processes preferred.
  • Exposure to manufacturing data collection, MES systems, barcode/RFID technology, or similar production technologies preferred.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate manufacturing processes that may benefit from automation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate manufacturing data into actionable improvements.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production teams, engineers, technicians, and other business partners.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with employees throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with standard software tools, including Microsoft Office.
