COUNTER SALES
Description

Responsibilities:

   

1. Wait on and service counter customers in a polite and courteous manner

2.  Ask for counter assistance when two or more customers are at the counter

3.  Answer counter phone calls, respond to email and text messages using company platforms

4.  Take all assigned Somer School and vendor courses/classes

5.  Keep counter and self-service areas replenished

6.  Keep the counter/work area neat, clean, and well organized

7.  Maintain products and signage at counter to assist customers in locating products

8.  Promote and sell appropriate add on, company selected specials and focus products

9.  Promote TSCOnline, Trackstar, Textstar and Conexium to all customers

10. Input orders including: counter orders, shipping orders, and will calls

11.  Maintain will call file

12.  Input customer product returns and credits conforming to the branch/company policies. When receiving returns, inspect, and place in the branch-designated area (Label if required)

13.  Source material from other branches when appropriate (follow ARP procedure)

14.  Utilize sales tools such as Somer School & Sales Made Simple to enhance your learning and increase sales

15.  Assist customers in loading material

16.  Assist the warehouse personnel whenever possible

17.  Have an understanding and follow all company policies and procedures

18.  Communicate all low quantities and shortages to Operation Manager

19.  Notify Operations Manager of any broken or damaged material

20.  Attain certification on all Power Industrial Equipment

21.  Wear Personal Protective Equipment when required  

22. Always handle TSCO material in a safe/careful manner

23. Attend all required branch and company meetings

24. Work assigned Saturdays based on branch schedule

25. Work extra hours as needed with supervisor's approval

26. Participate in the preparation and working of physical inventories

27. Follow dress code for branch personnel and maintain a professional appearance

28. Promote and display teamwork

29. Use stock picker, reach truck and sit down forklift when necessary to pick orders

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent education
  • Prior experience not required, but preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Positive demeanor, dependability, and strong work ethic
  • Self-starter with ability to learn our systems quickly
  • Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50lbs regularly
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedure
  • Pre-employment background screening required
