LOADER OPERATOR
Reports To: Plant Manager

Job Purpose / Summary
The Loader Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating front-end loaders and other heavy equipment to support daily plant production activities. This role plays a critical part in feeding plant hoppers, managing stockpiles, loading materials, and maintaining an organized yard environment.
The ideal candidate can operate equipment with minimal supervision while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Operation
- Operate front-end loaders to move, load, and stockpile sand and aggregate materials.
- Feed plant hoppers consistently to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
- Load haul trucks and manage material placement to prevent contamination or segregation.
- Operate additional equipment as needed, including skid steers, telehandlers, and water trucks.
Yard & Stockpile Management
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe stockpile areas.
- Monitor material levels and communicate inventory needs to supervisors.
- Follow proper blending and material-handling procedures.
- Maintain an orderly yard environment to support safe and efficient plant operations.
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance
- Perform required pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections.
- Conduct basic preventive maintenance, including greasing and fluid checks.
- Identify and report equipment defects, safety concerns, and maintenance needs promptly.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable MSHA/OSHA regulations.
- Maintain constant awareness of surroundings, personnel, vehicles, and moving equipment.
- Communicate effectively with truck drivers, plant personnel, and supervisors.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Production Support
- Assist with cleanup of spilled materials as needed.
- Support plant operations during shutdowns, maintenance activities, and special projects.
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of heavy equipment operating experience; sand, aggregate, mining, or construction experience preferred.
- Experience operating large front-end loaders in a production environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify potential equipment issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- MSHA certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating heavy equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and safely access equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, dust, and industrial conditions.
- Ability to work around noise, vibration, and moving machinery.
- Must be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
