LUBE TECHNICIAN
Reports To: Plant Manager

Job Purpose / Summary
We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and proactive Lube Technician to join our team. The Lube Tech is responsible for performing routine lubrication, inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs on plant and heavy equipment to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with heavy equipment and industrial machinery. This position requires a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and maintaining accurate equipment records.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
- Grease loaders and other assigned equipment at the beginning of each shift.
- Wash loaders and equipment as needed.
- Clean equipment cabs, lights, windows, and glass daily.
- Blow out and inspect air filters daily.
- Check and maintain appropriate fluid levels at the beginning of each shift.
- Perform routine lubrication and preventative maintenance on plant and mobile equipment.
- Communicate with the rental company and Plant Manager regarding accepted, returned, damaged, rented, and company-owned equipment on a daily basis.
- Identify potential mechanical issues and communicate maintenance needs promptly.
Inspection & Reporting
- Conduct equipment inspections according to the company's prescribed inspection schedule.
- Complete and submit accurate, detailed equipment inspection reports.
- Document maintenance activities, equipment conditions, defects, and repairs as required.
- Report safety concerns and equipment deficiencies to the Plant Manager or appropriate supervisor.
Plant & Equipment Maintenance
- Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment associated with sand and aggregate processing operations.
- Perform or assist with conveyor belt repair, tracking, and alignment.
- Assist with maintenance of gearboxes, bearings, sheaves, pulleys, trunnions, baghouses, elevators, silos, loadout spouts, and slurry and freshwater pumps.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of wet and dry sand screens.
- Perform basic structural repairs and welding as qualified.
- Safely rig and lift heavy components and equipment as required.
Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Conduct all work in accordance with applicable federal and state mining laws.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Use proper PPE and follow safe work practices at all times.
- Follow proper lockout/tagout and equipment isolation procedures when applicable.
- Work safely around heavy equipment, conveyors, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and other industrial hazards.
Equipment Operation
- Operate mobile equipment as needed to support maintenance activities, including:
- Skid steer
- Telehandler
- Track hoe
- Backhoe
- Operate equipment safely and only when properly trained and authorized.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Sand and/or aggregate plant experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of sand and aggregate plant equipment and components.
- Knowledge of conveyor belt repair, gearboxes, bearings, structural welding and repair, trunnions, baghouses, elevators, silos, loadout spouts, slurry and freshwater pumps, and wet and dry sand screens.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately read a tape measure.
- Ability to safely rig and lift heavy objects.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of sheave and pulley alignment.
- Experience with conveyor belt tracking and alignment.
- Comfortable working at heights and around elevated equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in hot, cold, dusty, and other challenging industrial environments.
- Basic heavy equipment operating experience.
- Current valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a vocational or technical school program in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to lift and handle heavy objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and industrial environments.
- Ability to safely work at heights and around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
- Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
