Requirements

Installation & Technical Responsibilities

• Install security system components, including control panels, initiating and notification devices, and low-voltage wiring, per approved plans and specifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and system layouts to determine device placement, wire routing, and equipment mounting

• Terminate wiring and program basic system settings under the direction of a lead or systems technician

• Mount and secure panels, devices, cabling, related hardware and manufacturer guidelines

• Conduct basic testing of installed devices and systems to confirm proper function before inspection or turnover

• Maintain accurate installation records, redlines, and as-built documentation for each project

• Support senior technicians during system inspections, troubleshooting, and final acceptance testing as needed


Site Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate on-site with project managers, general contractors, electricians, and other trades to maintain installation schedules

• Transport, organize, and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles; track material usage and report shortages

• Provide courteous, professional representation of AFPS when interacting with client personnel and site staff


Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and comply with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements

• Ensure work is completed in compliance with manufacturer specifications and local AHJ requirements

• Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment

• Report any jobsite safety concerns or incidents promptly

  

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required; low-voltage systems is a plus.

• 1–3 years of experience in security system installation, or related low-voltage/electrical work preferred; entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude will be considered.

• Working knowledge of hand and power tools, wiring practices, and basic blueprint reading.

• NICET certification (or willingness to pursue) preferred but not required at entry level.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to travel to job sites across NJ, NY, and PA.

• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug screening.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
