What We Need:
Operations Supervisor provides supervision in plant operations to provide servant leadership to their employees. Oversees various operational functions and oversight of operator team. Responsible for ensuring Feed Safety/Food Safety by following all Safe Feed/Safe Food policies and protocols and taking immediate corrective action if safety issues arise.
Must be able to work the following shift, 2PM–10:30PM, Monday–Friday schedule and will transition to a permanent overnight shift as we expand operations, with advance notice. This position must pass a background check and drug screen.
What you will do
- Member of the safety committee and plant leadership team and routinely attends coordination and meetings for these groups.
- Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Observes work and monitors equipment and processes to ensure that Operators conform to production or processing standards.
- Oversees the movement of materials and products within the plant and the processing of orders.
- Responsible for maintaining accuracy in records, logs, PIMS, and all other reports associated with day-to-day operations of the plant.
- Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Monitors all daily and month-end inventories. Completes month end activities during close.
- Prepares records and reports for Plant Manager to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions and ensures that maintenance department personnel are informed of any defects or breakdowns in machinery, equipment, and facilities.
- Works as a general operator throughout shift as needed (approximately 30 to 40% of responsibility) and always maintains a visible on the floor presence in the production facilities.
- Trouble-shoots and problem-solves front-line production and personnel problems, complaints, or concerns as they arise.
- Assists in documenting and completing investigations for all customer-related issues and are secondarily responsible for root cause analysis of deviations from the Perfect Load Index (PLI).
- Monitors and evaluates Operator morale, performance, and conduct to ensure compliance with existing company policies while reducing Operator turnover.
- Oversees new Operator Training Programs and existing Operator training based on updates to SOPs and company procedures.
- Conducts coaching, mentoring and progressive discipline process’ with Operators.
- Conducts routine safety inspections of the facility and grounds in conjunction with EH&S manager.

What You Will Need:
- High School diploma or GED required, additional education preferred.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in related industry or field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, customer service skills including ability to complete accurate records and logs.
- Ability to effectively manage and interact with people on a one-on-one basis.
- Ability to problem-solve day-to-day personnel concerns.
- Ability to demonstrate work-direction skills and a desire to lead.
- Ability to follow directions, interpret and work from written instruction, knowledge of basic math skills, ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to make sound judgements when operating production equipment.
- Must have valid Iowa driver’s license and operate a motor vehicle. In Pacific Junction location, it’s recommended to obtain and maintain Class A CDL license. Feed Energy will provide company assistance.
- Ability to operate a forklift, skid loader, and other equipment in a safe manner.
- Conduct and monitor production through DeltaV and DCS systems. Experience with automation and PLC systems preferred.
