Position Overview 

Chartis Federal is seeking an experienced federal retirement specialist to help U.S. Coast Guard employees navigate important career and life decisions with accurate, timely guidance. The specialist will independently review voluntary and disability retirement cases, prepare estimates, advise employees and HR staff, and process retirement actions in accordance with federal requirements.


This position is contingent upon contract award.  


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Review voluntary and disability retirement packages for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable federal requirements. 
  • Prepare retirement estimates and clearly explain the calculations, assumptions, eligibility considerations, and available options. 
  • Provide knowledgeable, responsive advisory support to employees and HR staff throughout the retirement process. 
  • Identify missing or inconsistent documentation, resolve case issues, and coordinate follow-up needed to keep cases moving. 
  • Code and process retirement personnel actions in accordance with OPM's Guide to Processing Personnel Actions. 
  • Protect sensitive personnel information and complete all work within client-secured systems using Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE). 
  • Meet established timeliness and quality standards, including accurate retirement estimates and packages requiring no more than minor correction. 
Requirements
  • At least six years of experience providing federal retirement support comparable to the services described above. 
  • Expert knowledge of federal retirement benefits, eligibility requirements, and applicable laws, regulations, and policies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to independently review retirement cases, prepare estimates, advise employees, and resolve complex case issues. 
  • Experience coding and processing retirement personnel actions in accordance with OPM guidance. 
  • Strong analytical, customer-service, and written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently. 
  • Ability to successfully complete a Tier 1 background investigation and obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination and Common Access Card (CAC). No Secret or higher-level clearance is required.
