Compensation: $40.00–$55.00 per hour, plus an additional $1.50 per hour field rate (based on experience).
Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 sign-on bonus + field service bonus opportunities

Marine Diesel Technician Wanted: Own the Process, Solve Complex Problems, Deliver Performance
Are you an experienced marine diesel technician who thrives on troubleshooting complex equipment and getting to the root cause? We’re looking for a mid-level to journey-level technician with strong experience in marine diesel propulsion and auxiliary engines.
This role will have a strong focus on the Orange Beach, Alabama area, with additional coverage across Gulf Shores, Mobile, Pascagoula, and surrounding Gulf Coast marine markets. Join a high-performance team where technical expertise, quality workmanship, and results matter.
About the Role
As a Marine Engine Systems Technician, you’ll perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and service work on marine diesel engines across vessels, shipyards, and customer sites.
You’ll work independently using advanced diagnostic tools and your mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting skills to diagnose problems and restore equipment to proper operating condition. You’ll also support sea trials, maintain accurate service records, mentor apprentices, and complete manufacturer training.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain marine diesel propulsion and auxiliary engines
- Perform inspections, overhauls, testing, commissioning, and field service
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic engine-system issues
- Perform MTU dyno acceptance testing and adjust engines to factory specifications
- Use OEM diagnostic software to verify and adjust system performance
- Conduct service work on vessels, shipyards, and customer facilities
- Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation
- Support sea trials and commissioning activities
- Represent the company professionally at customer sites
- Maintain company vehicle and personal tools
- Mentor apprentices and uphold safety and quality standards
- Complete required manufacturer training and certifications
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; technical training or diesel certification preferred
- 3–5+ years of hands-on marine diesel experience
- Strong experience with marine propulsion and auxiliary engines
- Proven mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Strong electrical and electronic diagnostic fundamentals
- Experience with one or more of the following: CAT, Cummins, Volvo Penta, MAN, Detroit, Yanmar, John Deere, or FPT
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and electrical test equipment
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- TWIC card or ability to obtain one
- Automotive/light-duty diesel experience alone will not be considered; candidates must have heavy-duty diesel and/or marine propulsion experience
Preferred Qualifications
- MTU 2000 and/or MTU 4000 experience
- MTU Service Professional or OEM training
- MTU electronic diagnostic experience, including ECU, MDEC, and/or DDEC systems
- Experience with MTU DiaSys
- Marine field service or shipyard experience
- Familiarity with EPA Tier regulations and OEM standards
- Experience with dyno testing, commissioning, or sea trials
- Comfortable working independently in variable environments, including confined spaces
