The Charlotte Lozier Institute is looking to bring on a highly motivated and energetic Operations and Research Assistant who will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations, planning and scheduling for the CLI team in addition to assisting with basic research.
The Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), the research and education arm of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, is committed to bringing the power of science, medicine, and research to bear in life-related policymaking, media, and debates to promote a culture and polity of life.
This is a full-time position that reports directly to the Executive Director.
Essential Functions:
Operations (50%):
- Internal coordination: Serves as the point of contact for all logistics and coordination between SBA and CLI on IT matters, databases, events, programs, website inbox, and other operational needs.
- Weekly tracker maintenance: Responsible for regularly maintaining and updating media, court citation, and testimony tracking documents.
- Conference Planning: Assists with coordination of scholar participation in nationwide conferences/events by scheduling travel, hotel, registrations, and shipment of conference materials.
- Scheduling: Coordinates calendar meetings between CLI staff and other entities including staff, associate scholars, and external participants, including weekly CLI meetings and serving as a notetaker for follow up activities.
- Other operational duties as assigned.
Research and/or Social Media (50%):
- Supports research and editing processes by proofreading or fact-checking publications and formatted materials or performing basic research duties.
- Assist Lozier Library staff and expert work group members with various research projects, as assigned.
- Train new users on library access.
- May assist with content creation for social media platforms based upon CLI research.

- Comfortable with computer work including extensive data entry, with precise attention to detail.
- Comfortable working on multiple products and prioritizing based on organizational needs.
- Professional demeanor and experience working with senior-level individuals.
- Basic editing and proofreading skills.
- Facility with computer programs, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Must have excellent writing, editing, and grammatical skills.
- Must have exacting attention to detail.
- Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Teams is a plus.
- 1-2 years professional experience in a research environment preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position is headquartered in our Arlington, VA office. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing.
May be required to lift objects up to 20 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours
40 hours per week. Weekend and overnight work is not expected.
Travel
Occasion travel may be required for this position 5% of the time (conferences).
