Description
We are currently looking for an experienced full-time Authorization Specialist for a radiation oncology office. Must have 1 year of prior authorizations experience.
The responsibilities of the insurance Authorization Specialist will include, but are not limited to the following:
- ensuring scheduled procedures are verified as covered through the patients insurance.
- verifying insurance coverage, eligibility, benefits, obtaining authorizations and pre-certs as required by the individual insurance company for any appointments or procedures that the patient may be scheduled.
- entering complete verification, eligibility and benefit information in the patient accounting system to include the date, time and method used to obtain the verification/eligibility information for each patient.
- communicating with the physicians to assure they are aware of insurance status on their patients and whether or not they may proceed with plan.
- working closely with the billing department and assuring that accurate information is relayed to them.
- working in person, in the office with others is required. Pay will be commensurate with experience.
Requirements
- Insurance verification: 1 year (Required) experience.
- The Authorization/verification specialist will need to have excellent communication skills as they will be communicating with internal customers and physicians as well as insurance companies and patients.
- An understanding of various insurances and plan types as well as setting plan codes.
- Working in person, in the office with others is required.
