We are seeking experienced Aircraft Powerplant Repair Advisors to support current and future Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs worldwide.
This position provides an opportunity for an experienced aviation powerplant maintenance professional to continue serving the aviation community by providing technical expertise, maintenance instruction, troubleshooting assistance, mentorship, and advisory support to international partner-nation aviation organizations.
Position Summary
The Aircraft Powerplant Repair Advisor (15B) serves as a technical aviation maintenance advisor responsible for providing instruction, mentorship, troubleshooting assistance, and technical guidance to partner-nation aviation maintenance personnel responsible for aircraft powerplant systems.
The advisor will provide subject matter expertise in aircraft engine maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, servicing, component replacement, technical publications, maintenance documentation, and powerplant-related aircraft readiness.
Working directly alongside international military aviation maintenance organizations, the advisor will assist partner-nation personnel in developing safe, effective, and sustainable powerplant maintenance capabilities while promoting sound U.S. military aviation maintenance practices, standards, safety procedures, and technical disciplines.
The successful candidate will support maintenance training and advisory activities associated with aircraft powerplant systems while helping partner-nation maintenance organizations improve troubleshooting capability, maintenance quality, aircraft availability, and overall operational readiness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as an Aircraft Powerplant Repair Advisor to FMS partner nations.
- Provide technical instruction and mentorship to international aviation maintenance personnel responsible for aircraft powerplant maintenance.
- Provide classroom and hands-on instruction covering aircraft engine systems, components, maintenance procedures, inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Train partner-nation maintenance personnel in proper aircraft powerplant maintenance practices and procedures.
- Assist maintenance personnel with identifying, troubleshooting, isolating, and correcting powerplant-related discrepancies.
- Provide instruction on engine operating principles, aircraft powerplant systems, components, limitations, and maintenance requirements.
- Assist with engine removal, installation, inspection, servicing, component replacement, and associated maintenance activities as applicable to the assigned aircraft.
- Provide instruction on engine inspection procedures and applicable scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in interpreting and applying applicable technical manuals, maintenance publications, work packages, engineering instructions, and technical data.
- Provide instruction and mentorship on aircraft forms, maintenance documentation, inspection records, and technical reporting requirements.
- Assist in identifying recurring powerplant maintenance issues and developing corrective actions.
- Advise maintenance leadership on powerplant-related aircraft readiness, maintenance effectiveness, technical issues, and operational concerns.
- Support maintenance training, qualification, progression, and continuation training requirements.
- Provide instruction on aviation maintenance safety, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, hazardous material procedures, and maintenance risk management.
- Assist with aircraft inspections, maintenance evaluations, and powerplant maintenance assessments as directed by program leadership.
- Support troubleshooting and fault isolation of aircraft engine and associated powerplant systems.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in developing effective engine maintenance planning and scheduling practices.
- Mentor aircraft mechanics, powerplant technicians, maintenance supervisors, and other aviation maintenance personnel.
- Assist partner-nation aviation organizations in establishing standardized powerplant maintenance procedures and practices.
- Provide guidance on proper use, care, inspection, and accountability of specialized powerplant maintenance tools and equipment.
- Assist with maintenance activities associated with aircraft induction, fielding, acceptance, modification, and operational sustainment as required.
- Assist with the development of powerplant maintenance lesson plans, training materials, presentations, and technical training programs.
- Identify maintenance training deficiencies and provide appropriate corrective instruction and remediation.
- Promote aviation safety, maintenance discipline, quality control, and technical compliance throughout all advisory activities.
- Conduct training and advisory activities in accordance with applicable military regulations, technical manuals, aviation publications, safety requirements, and program directives.
- Foster strong professional relationships while supporting the objectives of U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Former U.S. Army 15B Aircraft Powerplant Repairer or equivalent U.S. military aviation powerplant maintenance experience.
- Documented experience performing, supervising, or supporting aircraft powerplant maintenance.
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, servicing, removing, installing, or repairing aircraft engines and associated powerplant systems.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft powerplant systems, components, operating principles, maintenance procedures, and technical publications.
- Experience conducting scheduled, preventive, and corrective aircraft powerplant maintenance.
- Experience interpreting and applying U.S. military aviation technical manuals, maintenance publications, and technical data.
- Experience with aircraft maintenance forms, records, inspections, and maintenance documentation.
- Understanding of military aviation maintenance standards, safety practices, and quality-control procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, instructional, communication, and mentorship skills.
- Ability to train and mentor international military aviation maintenance personnel.
- Ability to identify powerplant maintenance deficiencies and provide effective corrective guidance.
- Ability to work independently as a technical aviation maintenance advisor.
- Ability to work effectively in international and cross-cultural environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances, passport, and visa requirements, as applicable to the assigned program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous SATMO or TAFT experience.
- Previous Foreign Military Sales (FMS) aviation maintenance advisory experience.
- Previous experience supporting international military aviation organizations.
- Significant experience with U.S. military turbine-powered rotary-wing aircraft.
- Experience as a senior powerplant mechanic, maintenance supervisor, technical inspector, or aviation maintenance team leader.
- Experience at the AVUM, AVIM, or depot-level maintenance environment.
- Aircraft engine removal and installation experience.
- Turbine engine troubleshooting and fault-isolation experience.
- Experience supporting aircraft engine fielding, modernization, or international aviation programs.
- Experience developing or managing aviation maintenance or powerplant training programs.
- Aviation maintenance readiness reporting and production management experience.
- Aviation maintenance quality-control and inspection program experience.
- Previous experience training or mentoring international military aviation maintenance personnel.
- Graduate of applicable U.S. military aviation maintenance, instructor, technical inspector, or maintenance management courses.
