We are seeking experienced Aircraft Structural Repair Advisors to support current and future Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs worldwide.

This position provides an opportunity for an experienced aviation structural maintenance professional to continue serving the aviation community by providing technical expertise, structural repair instruction, troubleshooting assistance, mentorship, and advisory support to international partner-nation aviation organizations.

Position Summary

The Aircraft Structural Repair Advisor (15G) serves as a technical aviation maintenance advisor responsible for providing aircraft structural repair instruction, mentorship, technical guidance, and hands-on advisory support to partner-nation aviation maintenance personnel.

The advisor will provide subject matter expertise in aircraft structural inspection, damage assessment, sheet metal repair, composite materials, structural components, corrosion control, welding and fabrication, fasteners, structural bonding, and approved repair procedures.

Working directly alongside international military aviation maintenance organizations, the advisor will assist partner-nation personnel in developing safe, effective, and sustainable aircraft structural maintenance capabilities while promoting sound military aviation maintenance practices, technical standards, safety procedures, and quality-control disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Aircraft Structural Repair Advisor to FMS partner nations.
  • Provide technical instruction and mentorship to international aviation maintenance personnel responsible for aircraft structural maintenance and repair.
  • Provide classroom and hands-on instruction covering aircraft structural systems, components, materials, inspection procedures, damage assessment, repair techniques, and maintenance requirements.
  • Train partner-nation maintenance personnel in proper aircraft structural repair practices and procedures.
  • Inspect aircraft structures and assist maintenance personnel in identifying, assessing, documenting, and correcting structural discrepancies.
  • Provide instruction on aircraft structural damage assessment and determination of appropriate maintenance actions in accordance with approved technical data.
  • Perform and instruct personnel on sheet metal fabrication, forming, cutting, drilling, fitting, fastening, and structural repair techniques.
  • Provide instruction on aircraft structural components, assemblies, skins, frames, stringers, longerons, bulkheads, floors, doors, panels, and other applicable structural elements.
  • Provide instruction and hands-on guidance on the use of approved aircraft structural repair materials, fasteners, sealants, adhesives, and bonding techniques.
  • Assist with structural repairs involving aluminum, steel, titanium, composite, and other aircraft-approved materials as applicable to the assigned aircraft.
  • Provide instruction on aircraft corrosion identification, prevention, treatment, and repair.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with corrosion assessment and corrective maintenance.
  • Provide instruction on structural inspection requirements and applicable scheduled and unscheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Assist partner-nation personnel in interpreting and applying applicable technical manuals, structural repair manuals, maintenance publications, engineering instructions, work packages, and technical data.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in determining repair requirements and ensuring repairs are performed in accordance with approved procedures and technical data.
  • Provide instruction and mentorship on aircraft forms, maintenance documentation, inspection records, structural repair documentation, and technical reporting requirements.
  • Assist in identifying recurring structural maintenance issues and developing corrective actions.
  • Advise maintenance leadership on aircraft structural condition, repair requirements, maintenance effectiveness, technical issues, and aircraft readiness.
  • Support maintenance training, qualification, progression, and continuation training requirements.
  • Provide instruction on aviation maintenance safety, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, hazardous material procedures, personal protective equipment, and maintenance risk management.
  • Assist with aircraft inspections, structural evaluations, maintenance assessments, and aircraft readiness evaluations as directed by program leadership.
  • Support troubleshooting and fault isolation of structural discrepancies and aircraft damage.
  • Assist partner-nation personnel in developing effective structural maintenance planning and scheduling practices.
  • Mentor aircraft structural repairers, sheet metal technicians, composite repair personnel, maintenance supervisors, and other aviation maintenance personnel.
  • Assist partner-nation aviation organizations in establishing standardized aircraft structural repair procedures and practices.
  • Provide guidance on the proper use, care, inspection, calibration, and accountability of specialized structural repair tools and equipment.
  • Assist with structural maintenance activities associated with aircraft induction, fielding, acceptance, modification, modernization, and operational sustainment as required.
  • Assist with the development of structural maintenance lesson plans, training materials, presentations, and technical training programs.
  • Identify structural maintenance training deficiencies and provide appropriate corrective instruction and remediation.
  • Promote aviation safety, maintenance discipline, quality control, technical compliance, and proper structural repair practices throughout all advisory activities.
  • Conduct training and advisory activities in accordance with applicable military regulations, technical manuals, structural repair manuals, aviation publications, safety requirements, and program directives.
  • Foster strong professional relationships while supporting the objectives of U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Former U.S. Army 15G Aircraft Structural Repairer or equivalent U.S. military aviation structural maintenance professional.
  • Documented experience performing, supervising, or supporting aircraft structural maintenance and repair.
  • Experience inspecting, troubleshooting, fabricating, repairing, modifying, or replacing aircraft structural components.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft structural systems, materials, components, repair procedures, and applicable technical publications.
  • Experience conducting scheduled, preventive, and corrective aircraft structural maintenance.
  • Experience with aircraft sheet metal fabrication, structural repair, drilling, forming, fitting, fastening, and installation.
  • Experience interpreting and applying U.S. military aviation technical manuals, structural repair manuals, maintenance publications, engineering instructions, and technical data.
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance forms, records, inspection procedures, and structural repair documentation.
  • Familiarity with aircraft corrosion prevention, identification, treatment, and repair.
  • Understanding of military aviation maintenance standards, safety practices, and quality-control procedures.
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting, analytical, instructional, communication, and mentorship abilities.
  • Ability to train and mentor international military aviation maintenance personnel with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Ability to identify structural maintenance deficiencies and provide effective corrective guidance.
  • Ability to work independently while serving as a trusted aviation maintenance advisor.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances, passport, and visa requirements, as applicable to the assigned program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting Security Assistance Training Management Organization (SATMO) or Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs.
  • Previous Foreign Military Sales (FMS) aviation maintenance advisory experience.
  • Previous experience supporting international military aviation organizations.
  • Significant experience working with U.S. military rotary-wing or fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Previous experience as a senior aircraft structural repairer, structural maintenance supervisor, technical inspector, or aviation maintenance team leader.
  • Experience with aircraft sheet metal fabrication and structural repair.
  • Experience with aircraft composite repair and composite structural components.
  • Experience with aircraft corrosion control and structural corrosion repair.
  • Experience with structural bonding, sealants, fasteners, and specialized aircraft repair materials.
  • Experience working in AVUM, AVIM, or depot-level maintenance environments.
  • Experience supporting aircraft structural fielding, modernization, modification, or international aviation programs.
  • Experience developing or managing aviation structural maintenance training programs.
  • Experience with aviation maintenance readiness reporting and maintenance production management.
  • Experience with aviation maintenance quality-control and inspection programs.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring international military aviation maintenance personnel.
  • Graduate of applicable U.S. military aviation maintenance, structural repair, instructor, technical inspector, or maintenance management courses.
