We are currently seeking experienced CH-47F aviation maintenance professionals and aircraft crew chiefs to support current and future Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs worldwide.

Position Summary

The CH-47F Aviation Maintenance & Crew Chief Advisor serves as a technical aviation maintenance and aircrew-support advisor responsible for providing CH-47F maintenance instruction, aircraft crew-chief training, mentorship, troubleshooting assistance, and technical guidance to partner-nation aviation personnel.

The position is designed to accommodate experienced CH-47F aviation maintenance professionals and aircraft crew chiefs at varying levels of experience, including developing crew chiefs, experienced crew chiefs, senior crew chiefs, maintenance team leaders, maintenance technicians, and maintenance supervisors.

Working directly alongside international military aviation organizations, the advisor will provide subject matter expertise in CH-47F aircraft maintenance, aircraft servicing, inspections, troubleshooting, technical publications, maintenance documentation, flight-line operations, aircraft readiness, and crew-chief procedures.

The successful candidate will assist partner-nation personnel in developing safe, effective, and sustainable CH-47F maintenance and aircraft crew-chief capabilities while promoting sound U.S. Army aviation maintenance practices, standards, safety procedures, and operational readiness.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a CH-47F Aviation Maintenance or Crew Chief Advisor to FMS partner nations. 
  • Provide technical maintenance instruction and mentorship to international CH-47F maintenance personnel and aircraft crew chiefs. 
  • Provide classroom and hands-on instruction covering CH-47F maintenance procedures, aircraft systems, components, inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair. 
  • Train and mentor partner-nation CH-47F aircraft crew chiefs in safe and effective aircraft ground and flight-line operations. 
  • Provide instruction on aircraft preparation, pre-flight and post-flight inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, aircraft launch and recovery procedures, and maintenance documentation. 
  • Mentor crew chiefs in identifying aircraft discrepancies and coordinating appropriate corrective maintenance. 
  • Provide instruction on CH-47F aircraft systems, components, limitations, servicing requirements, and maintenance procedures. 
  • Assist partner-nation personnel in interpreting and applying applicable CH-47F technical manuals, maintenance publications, work packages, and technical data. 
  • Provide instruction and mentorship on aircraft forms, records, maintenance documentation, and technical reporting requirements. 
  • Assist in developing and improving partner-nation maintenance and crew-chief programs. 
  • Advise maintenance and aviation leadership on aircraft readiness, maintenance effectiveness, crew-chief proficiency, manpower utilization, supply issues, and maintenance challenges. 
  • Assist in identifying maintenance and training deficiencies and developing appropriate corrective actions. 
  • Support maintenance training, qualification, progression, and continuation training requirements. 
  • Provide instruction on aviation maintenance safety, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, hazardous material procedures, and maintenance risk management. 
  • Assist with aircraft inspections, maintenance evaluations, and aircraft readiness assessments as directed by program leadership. 
  • Support maintenance troubleshooting and fault isolation during aircraft maintenance activities. 
  • Assist partner-nation personnel with developing effective maintenance planning and scheduling practices. 
  • Provide mentorship to aircraft crew chiefs, maintenance technicians, maintenance supervisors, and other aviation maintenance personnel. 
  • Assist in developing the skills and capabilities of both developing and experienced CH-47F crew chiefs. 
  • Provide guidance to experienced and senior crew chiefs on aircraft maintenance coordination, crew management, technical supervision, and aircraft readiness. 
  • Assist partner-nation aviation organizations in establishing standardized crew-chief procedures and maintenance practices. 
  • Identify recurring maintenance issues and provide recommendations to improve aircraft reliability and operational readiness. 
  • Support aircraft induction, fielding, acceptance, modification, and operational sustainment activities as required. 
  • Assist with the development of maintenance and crew-chief lesson plans, training materials, presentations, and technical training programs. 
  • Conduct training and advisory activities in accordance with applicable U.S. Army regulations, technical manuals, aviation publications, safety requirements, and program directives. 
  • Foster strong professional relationships while supporting the objectives of U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.

Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Former or current U.S. Army 15U CH-47F Helicopter Repairer or equivalent U.S. military CH-47F aviation maintenance professional. 
  • Documented experience performing, supervising, or supporting CH-47F aircraft maintenance and/or aircraft crew-chief operations
  • Qualified or previously qualified to perform maintenance or crew-chief duties on the CH-47F Chinook
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a CH-47F aircraft crew chief, aviation maintenance technician, maintenance team member, or maintenance supervisor
  • Working knowledge of CH-47F aircraft systems, components, maintenance procedures, and applicable technical publications. 
  • Experience conducting or supporting aircraft inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and/or corrective maintenance. 
  • Experience interpreting and applying U.S. Army aviation technical manuals, maintenance publications, and technical data. 
  • Familiarity with aircraft forms, maintenance documentation, inspection procedures, and maintenance records. 
  • Understanding of U.S. Army aviation maintenance standards, safety practices, and flight-line procedures. 
  • Strong instructional, communication, and mentorship abilities. 
  • Ability to train and mentor international military maintenance personnel and aircraft crew chiefs with varying levels of technical experience. 
  • Ability to identify maintenance and training deficiencies and provide effective corrective guidance. 
  • Ability to work independently while serving as a trusted aviation maintenance and crew-chief advisor. 
  • Ability to work effectively in international and cross-cultural environments. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances, passport, and visa requirements, as applicable to the assigned program. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting Security Assistance Training Management Organization (SATMO) or Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs. 
  • Previous Foreign Military Sales (FMS) aviation maintenance advisory experience. 
  • Previous experience supporting international military aviation organizations. 
  • Previous experience as a CH-47F Senior Crew Chief, Aircraft Maintenance Team Leader, Maintenance Supervisor, Technical Inspector, or senior 15U aviation maintenance professional
  • Significant experience serving as a CH-47F aircraft crew chief in operational, training, or deployed environments. 
  • Experience training, evaluating, or mentoring CH-47F aircraft crew chiefs. 
  • Experience working in AVUM, AVIM, or depot-level maintenance environments. 
  • Experience supporting CH-47F aircraft fielding, modernization, or international aviation programs. 
  • Experience with CH-47F aircraft maintenance during deployment or expeditionary operations. 
  • Experience developing or managing aviation maintenance or crew-chief training programs. 
  • Experience with maintenance readiness reporting, aircraft status, and maintenance production management. 
  • Experience with aviation maintenance quality control and inspection programs. 
  • Previous experience supporting U.S. Army aviation maintenance training organizations. 
  • Graduate of applicable U.S. Army aviation maintenance, instructor, technical inspector, crew-chief, or maintenance management courses.
