We are currently seeking highly qualified CH-47F Instructor Pilots (IPs) to support current and future Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs worldwide.
This position is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced U.S. Army Chinook aviator to continue serving the aviation community by providing advanced flight instruction, mentorship, and technical expertise to international CH-47F aircrews.
Position Summary
The CH-47F Instructor Pilot (IP) serves as a senior aviation instructor and advisor responsible for providing flight and academic instruction to CH-47F pilots and aircrews.
Working directly alongside international partner-nation aviation personnel, the IP will provide subject matter expertise, flight instruction, mentorship, and technical guidance to develop and sustain CH-47F pilot and aircrew proficiency.
The successful candidate will assist in developing safe, proficient, and operationally capable CH-47F aircrews while promoting sound U.S. Army aviation training practices, safety standards, and operational procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a CH-47F Instructor Pilot Advisor to FMS partner nations.
- Provide advanced CH-47F flight instruction to pilots and aircrew in both classroom and aircraft environments.
- Conduct academic instruction covering aircraft systems, limitations, emergency procedures, flight operations, and mission-specific subjects.
- Provide hands-on flight instruction covering basic, advanced, and mission-essential CH-47F flight maneuvers.
- Mentor international CH-47F pilots and aircrews in safe and effective aircraft operation.
- Assist in developing pilot proficiency through continuation training, progression training, and mission-oriented instruction.
- Provide instruction on crew coordination, cockpit procedures, risk management, and aviation safety.
- Identify training deficiencies and provide appropriate corrective instruction and remediation.
- Assist with pilot qualification, progression, and training requirements as directed by the assigned program.
- Support standardization and evaluation activities under the direction of program leadership and qualified Standardization Instructor Pilots (SIPs).
- Assist in developing lesson plans, training materials, academic presentations, and flight training programs.
- Advise aviation leadership on aircrew proficiency, training effectiveness, safety, and operational readiness.
- Support aviation safety programs, risk management, accident prevention, and mishap-reduction initiatives.
- Assist partner-nation aviation personnel in developing sustainable flight training and instructor programs.
- Conduct training and advisory activities in accordance with applicable technical manuals, regulations, aviation publications, and program requirements.
- Foster strong professional relationships while supporting the objectives of U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Former U.S. Army CH-47F Instructor Pilot (IP) with documented experience in the role.
- Current or previously qualified U.S. Army CH-47F Instructor Pilot (IP).
- Qualified in the CH-47F Block I aircraft; Block II experience preferred.
- Minimum 1,500 hours total rotary-wing flight time.
- Significant experience conducting CH-47F flight instruction and aircrew training.
- Thorough knowledge of CH-47F aircraft systems, flight characteristics, operational procedures, and applicable aviation publications.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Army aviation training and flight safety practices.
- Strong communication, instructional, and mentorship abilities.
- Ability to identify pilot training deficiencies and provide effective corrective instruction.
- Ability to work independently while serving as a trusted aviation advisor.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances, passport, and visa requirements, as applicable to the assigned program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting Security Assistance Training Management Organization (SATMO) or Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs.
- Previous Foreign Military Sales (FMS) aviation advisory experience.
- Previous experience supporting international military aviation organizations.
- Previous experience serving as a U.S. Army CH-47F Instructor Pilot or Standardization Instructor Pilot.
- Experience training pilots transitioning to the CH-47F aircraft.
- Experience developing or managing aviation training programs.
- Previous experience instructing or mentoring international military pilots.
- Previous experience supporting CH-47F international training or aviation modernization programs.
- Graduate of applicable U.S. Army instructor pilot or aviation training courses.
