Part-Time Dental Hygienist
Description

Job Summary:  

Promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and disease; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort and represents clinic to community in a positive manner.
  • Work cooperatively with providers and personnel to carry out the goals and objectives of the AllWays Community Health Center, according to established policies and procedures.
  • Provide dental prophylactic services to prevent and control dental disease and decay, such as cleaning patient’s teeth, coronal polish, calculus removal, and application of sealant to exposed teeth surfaces and surface tissues, and impressions.
  • Maintain records, data and information on dental services rendered.
  • Expose and develop diagnostic radiographs.
  • Evaluate individual needs in brushing and flossing techniques.
  • Educate patients on proper dental hygiene and nutritional counseling.
  • Administer anesthesia for pain control and prepare clinical and laboratory diagnostic tests for interpretation by dentists. Administer nitrous oxide, fluoride treatments, as needed.
  • Report any emergency dental needs to the staff dentist.
  • Coordinate, plan and present educational dental hygiene community programs at locations such as schools.
  • Provide periodontal therapies including root planning/scaling, micro-ultrasonic and soft tissue curettage.
  • On occasion, may work with dentists in the capacity of dental assistant.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
