TITLE:  Associate Director, Girl Experience

REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Girl Experience

CLASSIFICATION/FLSA STATUS: Full-time; Exempt
LOCATION:  Region - Any


POSITION SUMMARY: 

Responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the GSLE and Outdoor Program team as they work to reach, serve, and support all girls within the council. Responsible for providing management oversight of programming and girl experience. Responsible for the development of innovative strategies and effective services for supporting girl and adult membership. Works in close partnership with other operational and organizational functions to support organizational mission, goals, and strategic priorities. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with STEAM and Product Management leaders to create a needs-based, data-driven, comprehensive council-wide offering of programs, including specialized GSLE and Outdoor programming, including all signature program events including but not limited to Older Girl programming, Cardboard Boat Regatta, Cookie Palooza, travel and destinations, encampments, badge earning events, VOII, VOIII, and other training events. 
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements council events to provide fun, engaging participation options for all girl members, and supports council program revenue. 
  • Provides leadership, coaching, supervision, professional development, and performance management for assigned staff, including program managers, coordinators, specialists, and seasonal employees.
  • Develops, maintains, and achieves overall department budget goals, activity budgets, and strategy while working to eliminate any programming gaps.
  • Cultivates relationships with appropriate community partners to support girl programming and events.
  • Interprets and ensures that the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is present in all girl events. 
  • Works with the Senior Director to establish and monitor key performance indicators for GSLE and Outdoor programs and uses participation, financial, customer feedback, and other relevant data to evaluate effectiveness and inform future program development.
  • Creates and implements an outdoor program strategy in collaboration with camp staff and the Senior Director. 
  • Develops and maintains volunteer engagement strategies that support the recruitment, training, utilization, and retention of volunteers involved in GSLE, Outdoor, events, and specialty programming.
  • Stays abreast of all program opportunities from GSUSA.
  • Ensures all GSLE, Outdoor, travel, encampment, and event programming follows applicable GSUSA standards, council policies, safety requirements, risk-management practices, and required certifications.
  • Serves as an escalation point for complex girl, caregiver, volunteer, and staff experience concerns and works collaboratively to resolve issues while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
  • Ensures Girl Scouting is open and accessible to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.  
  • Active participation in the development of an environment which fosters diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude. 
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned. 
Requirements

  

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with three years of directly related work experience,      and at least two years of managerial experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for the requisite educational requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including public speaking skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Proficient in Salesforce, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, multi-task, meet deadlines, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail, skilled communication, and team-building skills. ?
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Girl Scout program principles and standards. ?

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to work on a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Travel throughout the council jurisdiction up to 20% of the time.
  • Capability to provide your own transportation and maintain a valid operator license.
Salary Description
$60,000-$65,000 / annually
