Description

 

TJ Heating & Cooling is seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC Controls & Electrical Technician to install, wire, troubleshoot, and commission HVAC and plumbing control systems in residential and commercial applications. 

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of HVAC control wiring, electrical troubleshooting, relays, transformers, pumps, thermostats, zoning systems, equipment communications, and control logic. This position plays a critical role in ensuring HVAC and plumbing systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards. 

Requirements

 

Installation & Wiring 

• Install and wire HVAC and plumbing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and electrical codes. 

• Install and terminate low-voltage and line-voltage control wiring. 

• Wire boilers, furnaces, heat pumps, condensers, mini-split systems, water heaters, pumps, and air handlers. 

• Install and wire thermostats, zoning systems, control panels, relays, contactors, transformers, and safety controls. 

• Assist with equipment startups and commissioning activities. 

• Verify proper system operation and communication between system components. 

Controls & Troubleshooting 

• Diagnose and repair HVAC and plumbing control system issues. 

• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, controls, relays, motors, transformers, sensors, and communication wiring. 

• Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, sequence of operations, and technical documentation. 

• Identify and resolve equipment communication and control failures. 

• Perform control upgrades, retrofits, and equipment replacements. 

• Support service technicians with complex control and wiring issues. 

Project Support 

• Work closely with installation and service teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently and correctly. 

• Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and other trades. 

• Assist in maintaining project schedules and quality standards. 

• Provide accurate documentation of completed work and field changes. 

Safety & Compliance 

• Follow all OSHA, company, and jobsite safety requirements. 

• Maintain clean and organized work areas. 

• Ensure installations comply with applicable local, state, and manufacturer requirements. 

• Properly operate and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment. 

Qualifications 

Required 

• High school diploma or equivalent. 

• Minimum 3 years of HVAC controls, electrical, or related field experience. 

• Strong understanding of HVAC control systems and electrical troubleshooting. 

• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics. 

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. 

• Strong communication and customer service skills. 

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with field teams. 

Preferred 

• HVAC service or installation experience. 

• Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License. 

• Massachusetts Oil Burner License. 

• Electrical training or electrical experience. 

• Experience with HVAC zoning systems, boiler controls, heat pump controls, pump controls, Building Automation Systems, Wi-Fi enabled thermostats, smart controls, commercial HVAC control systems, variable speed equipment, and communicating systems.

Salary Description
$45-$55 per hour
