Description

As TeachKind’s Program Coordinator, you'll strive to make the world kinder by helping K – 5 educators bring compassion for animals into their curriculum! Whether it’s maintaining TeachKind’s presence on education platforms, building creative, engaging features and activities for the TeachKind website, or coordinating various projects that help spread the important message of kindness to animals in schools, your work will make a huge impact on teachers and students! TeachKind, PETA’s humane education division, is growing every day, and we need someone with experience and knowledge in the classroom to help us be more effective than ever.  


Position Objective:

To bring kindness-to-animals messaging into PreK–5 classrooms through creative curriculum resources, educator outreach, and digital platform engagement




Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Brainstorm and support the development of creative, engaging features and activities for the TeachKind website

• Assist with analyzing TeachKind’s presence and performance on popular education websites like Teachers Pay Teachers and Kahoot

• Assist with TeachKind media-related projects, including the promotion of vegan food sponsorships, TeachKind contests, and awards to educators, schools, and districts

• Brainstorm creative ways to get kindness to animals messages and activities into the PreK-5 classroom —from engaging, standards-aligned lessons and activities teachers can incorporate into their curricula, to features that support educators to be as effective as possible 

• Work with the TeachKind team and the Production department on the creation of new downloadable and printed resources for PreK-5 educators

• Research the latest teaching news, education trends, and other relevant topics related to the PreK-5 grade level

• Build and maintain relationships with a network of PreK-5 teachers through e-mail and digital outreach efforts

• Seek out speaking opportunities targeting elementary teachers and administrators and prepare presentations that promote TeachKind resources and initiatives

• Review books geared to PreK-5 grade level 

• Help to coordinate and attend education conferences and other events on behalf of TeachKind

• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor


Requirements

• You should have a minimum of three years of experience teaching in a K-5 classroom 

• You must have the proven ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines

• You must have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail  

• You should have the ability to work on projects independently, as well as to collaborate successfully with the team

• Having experience in WordPress, Google Analytics, Salesforce, Asana, Word, Excel, or with TPT or Kahoot is a plus

• You’ll be helping to get our message out to the mainstream audience, so you must know and support PETA’s philosophy, campaigns, and animal liberation issues inside and out

• You’d need to be committed to the objectives of the organization, including living a vegan lifestyle 

• Willingness and ability to travel for conferences 

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.



The hourly pay range for this position is $19.40 - $23.83. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience.
