Full-time
Description

PETA’s Video Lab is a team of creative problem-solvers and storytellers behind some of the organization’s most talked-about animal rights videos on social media. From provocative, hilarious content that taps into the cultural conversation to emotionally powerful stories that motivate people to act, the Video Lab creates work that consistently cuts through the noise. Videos produced by PETA’s Video Lab generate roughly 100 million views each year, offering an extraordinary opportunity to experiment with emerging creative technology and make work that has a meaningful impact on animals.

Position Description:

PETA’s social channels reach millions of people every week—and this role sits at the center of that impact. As an AI Creative Producer — Social Video, you’ll create visually striking, culturally relevant, and emotionally powerful videos for PETA’s social platforms, with a strong emphasis on AI-assisted animation, original visual storytelling, and self-filmed content.

Your work will help make PETA’s animal liberation message compelling, shareable, and impossible to ignore—whether through humor and provocative commentary or powerful stories that build empathy for animals and inspire people to take action.

We’re looking for a highly creative, chronically online producer with strong creative instincts and a genuine connection to PETA’s mission. You should be excited to experiment with emerging AI tools and develop work that can be bold, funny, unexpected, heartbreaking, or moving, all via a new creative medium. Above all, you should understand that technology is a tool for telling great stories and helping people see animals as individuals.

Position Objective:

Leverage AI tools to create bold content, appear on camera, create skits, commentary, explanatory videos, and more

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Create high-impact videos for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, and emerging social channels, from concept through final delivery

• Develop scripts and creative concepts that balance humor, cultural relevance, emotional resonance, and provocative storytelling

• Use AI tools such as Midjourney, Runway, Higgsfield, Veo, and similar platforms to create animations, characters, visual effects, and other elements that elevate storytelling

• Experiment with emerging AI-powered video, animation, and creative technologies to develop innovative content and formats

• Combine AI-generated elements with traditional editing, animation, self-shot footage, and other production techniques to create the strongest possible story

• Create characters for comedic skits, commentary, explanatory videos, and other original formats that bring PETA’s bold and distinctive voice to life

• Develop emotionally compelling stories that build empathy for animals, help audiences see them as individuals, and motivate people to take action

• Self-film content when needed, using an iPhone or similar equipment, taking ownership of lighting, sound, props, set design, and overall production quality

• Direct and produce formal shoots as needed

• Collaborate closely with Video Lab team members and the social media team to develop timely, engaging content

• Ensure all video content meets quality standards and complies with legal and brand guidelines

• Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, internet culture, and advancements in AI creative tools

Requirements

• Degree in a related field, relevant professional experience, or a portfolio demonstrating exceptional creative ability

• Portfolio showcasing generative AI work, creative video projects, or personal AI-driven experiments. We care about what you’ve made, whether it comes from professional work, social content, animations, spec pieces, short films, or personal projects

• Demonstrated experience using AI tools for video generation, animation, visual effects, or video enhancement

• Strong understanding of visual storytelling and all stages of video production, from concept development through post-production

• Excellent video-editing skills using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or comparable tools

• Familiarity with video, lighting, and photography equipment

• Excellent creative instincts and enthusiasm for bold, unconventional ideas, balanced with the judgment and empathy needed to tell sensitive and emotionally powerful stories

• Strong understanding of social media and what makes audiences stop, watch, feel, and share

• Curiosity about emerging creative technology and enthusiasm for experimenting with new tools and techniques

• Knowledge of animal rights issues and familiarity with PETA campaigns preferred

• Professional appearance and commitment to a healthy vegan lifestyle

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under tight deadlines, both independently and collaboratively

• Commitment to the mission and objectives of the organization
