We are currently seeking a Pipefitter III. Pipefitter III's are responsible for the installation, assembly, and maintenance of piping systems in commercial mechanical construction projects. This role involves working with various materials, including steel, copper, and plastic, and requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure the accurate installation of systems. The Pipefitter will collaborate with the project team to ensure that all installations are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company safety standards, building codes, and project specifications. The core areas of responsibility are listed below, however other duties and responsibilities may be required to meet business needs and objectives. *In and out of sate travel is required.
Level 3:
- Advanced Pipefitter, responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of complex piping systems on large-scale projects.
- Independently handles difficult pipefitting tasks, including complex welding, system troubleshooting, and pressure testing.
- Coordinates with project managers and foremen to ensure timely completion of work and compliance with safety standards.
Core Areas:
Installation and Assembly of Piping Systems:
• Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems according to project specifications and drawings.
• Measure, cut, thread, and weld pipes, as well as install valves, fittings, and hangers to complete systems.
• Install piping systems for various applications, including water, gas, and heating systems, ensuring that they are level, plumb, and properly aligned.
• Inspect work areas to ensure proper assembly, alignment, and positioning of pipes, fittings, and components.
Blueprints and System Design Interpretation:
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and install piping systems according to project requirements.
• Ensure that all piping installations adhere to project design specifications, codes, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to ensure proper integration of the piping system with other construction activities.
Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
• Follow OSHA and other applicable safety regulations while performing work on job sites and have or obtain OSHA 30
- Conduct safety checks and report any potential hazards to the supervisor or safety manager.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
• Perform maintenance and repair tasks on piping systems, identifying and addressing any issues or leaks in existing systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to pipe systems, including addressing blockages, leaks, and other issues that may arise.
• Perform pressure tests to ensure the integrity of the piping systems and identify any issues that need to be fixed.
Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with other trades, including electricians, HVAC technicians, and general laborers, to ensure that installations are completed efficiently and according to schedule.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to discuss job progress, challenges, and any changes to the scope of work.
• Report to the foreman or superintendent on the progress of work, issues encountered, and any necessary adjustments to the work plan.
Tool and Equipment Management:
• Operate and maintain various hand tools, power tools, and machinery required for pipefitting tasks.
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are used properly and maintained in good working condition.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring tools and materials are stored safely when not in use.
Required Skills and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques, including welding, threading, and pipe assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in using pipefitting tools and equipment, including welding machines, cutting tools, and pressure testing devices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with pipe systems.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring that all work is completed accurately and meets project specifications.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to complete Form I-9 upon hire.
• Employment subject to E-Verify confirmation.
• Must be able to travel to multiple construction sites within the U.S. and present acceptable identification for security or travel purposes.
• Reliable transportation and ability to meet job-site access requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pipefitting apprenticeship program preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in pipefitting or a related trade, preferably in the mechanical contracting or commercial construction industry.
• Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal plumbing and mechanical codes and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification or licensure as a pipefitter or plumber.
• Experience with welding, including TIG, MIG, and stick welding techniques.
• Ability to operate a variety of pipefitting tools and equipment.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
· Regularly required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to work in outdoor conditions and elevated environments.
· Use of hands to handle tools, reach, and operate equipment.
· Ability to hear, speak, and communicate clearly on active jobsites.
