Job Summary
We are a growing dermatology practice committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care across Oregon and Washington. As we continue expanding specialty services, we are seeking a compassionate and motivated Telepsychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing team.
We are looking for a provider who is passionate about delivering accessible, patient-centered behavioral health care through telehealth. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, personable, collaborative, comfortable providing care in a virtual setting, and committed to helping patients improve their overall health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and mental health evaluations through telehealth
- Obtain patient histories, assess symptoms, and develop individualized treatment plans
- Diagnose and manage appropriate mental health conditions within the provider's scope of practice
- Provide medication management when appropriate and within scope and licensure
- Monitor patient progress through virtual follow-up visits and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and wellness strategies
- Deliver compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care in a virtual environment
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough medical documentation within the EMR
- Collaborate virtually with physicians, advanced practice providers, mental health professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
- Recognize situations requiring referral to a psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, emergency services, or other specialists
- Maintain appropriate standards for patient privacy, confidentiality, and telehealth practice
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, telehealth requirements, clinical standards, and organizational policies
Requirements – Physician Assistants (PA)
- Active Oregon PA license, or eligibility to obtain Oregon licensure prior to the start date
- For PAs who will practice entirely outside Oregon, an Oregon Telemedicine license status may be applicable
- NCCPA certification
Requirements – Nurse Practitioners (NP)
- Active Oregon APRN/NP authorization appropriate to the provider’s specialty and scope of practice, or ability to obtain prior to the start date.
- Board certification/Psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) board certification.
For All Candidates:
- Minimum 1 year of behavioral health, psychiatric, or related clinical experience preferred
- Strong behavioral health assessment, therapeutic communication, patient education, and patient-centered care skills
- Comfortable providing psychiatric and behavioral health services through telehealth
- Ability to effectively establish rapport, assess patients, and communicate clinical information in a virtual setting
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with physicians, mental health professionals, and other members of a multidisciplinary care team
- Strong clinical documentation, treatment-planning, communication, and time-management skills
- Reliable technology skills and ability to maintain a professional and confidential telehealth environment
Preferred:
- Experience providing psychiatric or behavioral health care through telehealth or other virtual care platforms
- Experience supporting patients coping with cancer diagnoses, chronic illness, grief, anxiety, depression, adjustment concerns, or treatment-related stress
- Interest in helping develop and grow behavioral health services as part of the new cancer center
