JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for administration, configuration and architectural creation of IP network(s) and related hardware across the CRAA organization as is required for specific and/or general networking requirements and special projects. General administration and configuration requirements for aviation security network and systems operation as related to uptime and accessibility of software platforms for safety and law enforcement purposes. Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, configuring, and resolving problems relating to, or indirectly related to, large network stability, performance, end user community problems with transport of data. This position reports to the Manager, Information Technology Operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews all business and security systems for operational functionality: checks all network devices; DARKTRACE AI appliances; inspects all virtual server hosts; reviews security platforms (ccure9k, ICE, Genetec), monitors Amadeus systems, and reviews VPN and Wi-Fi operability; maintains security for the Authority; develops, executes and tracks the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems; maintains security, develops, executes and tracks the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems.
- Assists with penetration testing and performs quarterly functions across networks develops third party penetration testing across all networks; mitigates issues and performs patching as necessary; performs special projects as needed: configures hardware and projects for major upcoming installations; developed new installation projects consisting of 400 plus cameras and network infrastructure to support three parking garages.
- Operates or uses various equipment and supplies to complete work assignments operates and maintains necessary data throughput rate by monitoring networking activity and maintaining existing equipment such as computer software, desktop publishing, databases, website development, video systems, VPN and assorted others.
- Communicates with Aviation Authority officials, supervisor, other employees, clients, third party contractors, vendors, tenants, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activates, review status of work exchange information and resolve problems; collaborates with third-party support and service vendors to ensure that the network stays operational; purchases technical information from vendors; helps in hardware changes and explains airport requirements for network exchanges.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures receives and reviews various documentation such as IT drawings and purchase orders for various network and/or software; prepares and documents network diagrams, IT master informational documents and compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of reports; maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
- Develop architecture to support business needs in relation to network transport requirements.
- Troubleshoots network problems.
- Responsible for taking inventory of existing network technologies.
- Ensure IP subnetting practices are best use for projects and departments.
- Ensures management is aware of any issues that could disrupt daily operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area.
- Five (5) years’ experience in a related field of work.
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.
Specific License or Certification Required:
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
- JNCIA Juniper certification, or higher certification.
Required Skills:
- Must be proficient in Spanning Tree Protocol (VSTP, RSTP)
- Must be proficient in IPV4 addressing and schema
- Must be proficient in Juniper EX series and SRX series network equipment and configuration
- Must be able to configure IPSEC tunnels, firewall configurations for inbound and outbound traffic scenarios
- Must be proficient in Wi-Fi and wireless technologies
- Must be proficient in security practices and software security domains
- Should be knowledgeable in commercial airport environments that require networking security, DHS regulations, and overall public transportation safety
- Should be knowledgeable in monitoring and software systems, such as (SolarWinds, CorningOne, Genetec VMS, Software House CCURE9000, Commend, DarkTrace)
- Should be knowledgeable in BGP configurations
- Should understand Juniper MIST environment
- Should be knowledgeable with VMWARE and Nutanix VM network layouts/builds
- Assist other departments with new technology, or new installs that requires networking
