Description

The Retail Merchandising & Team Associate plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of Heartland Outlet. This position assists the Team Supervisor, guides and oversees volunteers, and helps maintain an organized and welcoming retail environment. The role requires strong merchandising and organizational skills, the ability to lead by example, and a heart for serving customers and volunteers in alignment with HRM’s mission. 

Requirements
  • Support the Team Supervisor with daily operations and assigned responsibilities.
  • Train, guide, and oversee volunteers to ensure tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Assign daily tasks to volunteers and prepare work assignments and priorities for the following day.
  • Receive, organize, price, and stock incoming merchandise.
  • Maintain assigned sales floor areas, ensuring merchandise is organized, presentable, and properly stocked.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pricing area.
  • Start up and shut down computers and other designated equipment as needed.
  • Pack, unpack, and organize pallets to and from storage areas.
  • Assist with cashiering and customer service duties as needed.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for volunteers, staff, and customers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Required
  • Experience in retail and merchandising - 3+ years. Preferred
  • Experience building, leading and managing teams. Preferred

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Schedule: Regular onsite work required; Includes evenings, 2 Saturdays/month and extended hours as required by the ministry.
  • Physical Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during events and routine operations.  
  • Computer Use: Frequent use of standard computer systems, keyboard, and screen.  
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
