As an Accountant at Neighbors Credit Union, you'll play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial information. You'll work with people across the organization, investigate and solve accounting issues, support financial reporting, and help identify ways we can continuously improve our processes.

A Day in the Life
No two days are exactly alike, but on a typical day you might:
- Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts and investigate anything that doesn't look right.
- Process accounting transactions and ensure financial information is accurate.
- Partner with another department to research and resolve an accounting question.
- Support month-end close or prepare information for financial reporting.
- Assist with budgeting, audits, regulatory reporting, or financial analysis.
- Review your work to ensure it meets accounting standards, internal controls, and organizational policies.
- Identify a process that could be more efficient and work with your team to improve it.
- Step in to support another member of the accounting team when needed.
What Success Looks Like
As you grow into the position, you'll:
- Develop a strong understanding of your assigned accounts and responsibilities.
- Complete reconciliations and accounting activities accurately and on time.
- Recognize discrepancies and confidently research and resolve them.
- Build productive relationships with colleagues throughout the organization.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and Neighbors Credit Union's accounting practices.
- Look beyond completing the task to identify opportunities for better processes and stronger results.

What You'll Be Responsible For
- Perform account reconciliations and maintain the accuracy and integrity of assigned general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Process accounting transactions and support daily, monthly, and year-end financial reporting activities.
- Assist with budgeting, month-end close, audits, regulatory reporting, and financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and organizational accounting policies while maintaining accurate financial records.
- Collaborate with internal departments to research and resolve accounting issues and improve operational processes.
- Support departmental initiatives and provide backup for team members.
- Identify and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and service.

Required Qualifications
- 2–3 years of accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Previous accounting experience within a credit union, bank, or other financial institution.
