Classic Cinemas is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support maintenance, repairs, construction, and remodeling projects across our theatre locations throughout Northern Illinois.
This position is ideal for someone with commercial maintenance or construction experience who can troubleshoot problems, complete repairs independently, and work effectively as part of a small maintenance team. Work varies from day to day and may include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, lighting, flooring, low-voltage wiring, preventative maintenance, and specialized theatre and concession equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform commercial building maintenance and repairs, including electrical, plumbing, lighting, carpentry, flooring, and general facility repairs
- Troubleshoot building systems and complete repairs with minimal supervision
- Support theatre construction, renovation, and remodeling projects
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair theatre and concession equipment, including speakers, screens, seating, beverage stations, popcorn equipment, refrigeration equipment, and related systems
- Install and troubleshoot low-voltage wiring and run new cable through ceilings, walls, attics, and existing building infrastructure
- Read and follow schematics, layouts, and technical instructions
- Perform preventative maintenance and assist with emergency repairs as needed
- Safely use hand and power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts
- Work with supervisors, contractors, theatre managers, and other maintenance staff to complete projects safely and efficiently
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and a high standard of workmanship
Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial facilities maintenance, construction trades, or a related technical field
- Hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, lighting, and general building repairs preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts
- Experience with low-voltage systems, fire alarm systems, ADA requirements, or other commercial building systems is a plus
- Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively as part of a small team
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
- Basic hand tools required; specialty tools and equipment are provided
Schedule & Travel
This is a full-time, year-round position, typically beginning between 5:00–6:00 AM and ending around 2:00–3:00 PM, with occasional overtime and emergency service needs.
Our corporate office is located in Downers Grove; however, technicians do not report to the corporate office each morning. The daily starting location varies based on scheduled work and will typically be directly at one of our theatre or project locations.
Classic Cinemas locations are generally within approximately a two-hour driving radius of Downers Grove, and travel between locations is part of the position.
Pay
$24.00–$32.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
