The Retail Café Manager will create a welcoming social gathering space for residents, family members, guests, and team members while fostering a culture of service excellence and compassionate care.
About the Role
The Retail Café Manager provides overall leadership and management of a fast-casual café, coffeehouse, and bakery operation. This position is responsible for ensuring superior customer service, maintaining high-quality food and beverage standards, driving financial performance, developing team members, and creating an inviting atmosphere that enhances the community lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day café operations, ensuring exceptional service, quality, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- Train, schedule, coach, and develop café team members.
- Manage café budgets, labor costs, food costs, inventory, and cash handling procedures.
- Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.
- Oversee ordering, inventory control, product merchandising, promotions, and menu mix.
- Manage and grow the café's takeout and to-go program.
- Foster a positive and engaging work environment focused on teamwork and hospitality.
- Deliver an outstanding café experience for residents, guests, family members, and team members.
- Partner with community departments to support special events, resident programs, and engagement initiatives.
- Ensure all food and beverage products meet established quality standards.
- Maintain compliance with all health department regulations, HACCP requirements, and sanitation guidelines.
- Complete and maintain required HACCP logs daily.
- Ensure the café kitchen and service areas remain clean, organized, and fully sanitized.
Required Education & Experience
- Associate degree (or equivalent experience) in Hospitality, Foodservice Management, Business, or a related field.
- ServSafe Manager Certification required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of management experience in a café, coffeehouse, bakery-café, or retail foodservice environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary Arts degree.
- Four (4) or more years of management experience in a café or retail foodservice operation.
- Advanced POS and technology skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
