Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day operational and administrative support for the Human Resources Department. Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, this position assists with recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration, leave tracking, compliance activities, employee relations support, and training coordination.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a resource to employees and supervisors by providing responsive customer service, maintaining accurate records, promoting compliance with organizational policies, and supporting positive employee experience. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient HR operations across Park DuValle Community Health Center's locations.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Assists with the full-cycle recruitment process, including posting vacancies, screening applications, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing offer documentation.
- Coordinates pre-employment activities, including background checks, employment verification, and onboarding requirements.
- Conducts new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Collaborate with hiring managers and the HR Director to support staffing needs.
- Maintains applicants and recruitment records within applicable systems.
Employee Records Administration
- Maintains employee personnel files and electronic records in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Processes new hires, transfers, promotions, status changes, and separations.
- Maintains confidentiality of employee information and records.
- Assists with HR audits and document retention activities.
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Assists employees with benefit enrollment, benefit changes, and general benefit questions.
- Supports administration of medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and other employee benefit programs.
- Assists with annual open enrollment activities.
- Tracks and maintains leave documentation, including FMLA, workers' compensation, military leave, and other approved leaves of absence.
- Coordinates communication between employees, HR, and benefit providers as needed.
Employee Relations Support
- Responds to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
- Assists the Director of Human Resources with employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and disciplinary documentation.
- Maintains documentation related to employee concerns and workplace issues.
- Supports initiatives that promote positive employee engagement and workplace culture.
Compliance & Training
- Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies.
- Completes I-9 verification, audits, and employment eligibility documentation.
- Tracks mandatory training, certifications, licensure renewals, and continuing education requirements.
- Assists with OSHA reporting, workers' compensation documentation, and workplace safety initiatives.
- Supports policy implementation and employee policy acknowledgment processes.
HR Operations
- Maintains HRIS data accuracy and updates employee records as needed.
- Generates routine HR reports and maintains departmental records.
- Assists with preparing documentation for audits, surveys, and accreditation reviews.
- Travels between PDCHC locations as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of Human Resources experience.
- Experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration, or employee relations.
- Experience working with HRIS systems (Paylocity).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between PDCHC locations.
Preferred
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
- Experience supporting HR functions in a healthcare, FQHC, or other federally funded environment is a plus, given PDCHC's Section 330 and HRSA compliance obligations.
