Redmond, Washington with Telecommute Option
Duties: Perform mechanical engineering activities and execute deliverables for GeoEngineers’ trenchless engineering projects involving HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) and which require complex mechanical tools/equipment to bore, expand, drill, clear, and install horizontally constructed pipelines, including specialized drill rigs and drill bits, Bottom Hole Assemblies (BHAs), jetting assemblies, mud motors, flycutters, hole openers, barrel reamers, pullback assemblies, rollers, roller cradles, excavators, cranes, sidebooms, pneumatic hammers, and other specialized mechanical equipment for buoyance control, drilling fluid management, surveying, steering, etc. Specific position duties include:
· Analyze proposed trenchless crossings to determine the mechanical equipment and construction methods needed to successfully install a trenchless pipeline crossing.
· Analyze pipe stresses with product pipe mechanical properties, drilling fluid pressures, formation limit pressures, and geometric constraints for trenchless pipeline crossings. Modify/revise plans and equipment as needed based on analysis.
· Analyze mechanical soil properties derived from laboratory testing to for project planning, including recommendations for the use of specialized mechanical equipment based on soil properties.
· Produce HDD plan/profile designs, engineering calculations, and equipment layouts.
