SUMMARY:
Works independently to perform a wide range of landscape maintenance duties, working safely with gas- and diesel-powered equipment including mowers, tractors, chainsaws etc., and attending to plants, trees and lawns on assigned campuses. Performs daily routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment, fencing and grounds features as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Level I
- Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs.
- Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicide and insecticides.
- Rakes leaves.
- Cleans grounds, removes litter and empties trash cans.
- Shovels snow from walks and driveways.
- Spread salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
- Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs.
- Waters lawn and shrubs.
- Repairs fences, gates, walls and walks.
- Paints fences and out buildings.
- Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
- Must maintain a current driver's license.
- Operates numerous hand tools including but not limited to; shovels, rakes, hoes, pruner, post whole digger and others as required.
- Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools and shears.
- Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, spreader and snow removal equipment.
Level II
Performs all duties performed by Level I, plus
- Tracks labor, parts, and machine history in plant CMMS.
- Maintains a written log of any highlights occurring during shift coverage in conjunction with proper ShiftNote entries.
- Performs a full range of landscape maintenance duties including leaf removal, pruning shrubs and trees, spraying and fertilizing, lawn care and watering.
- Cleans roads, parking lots and walks to ensure safety for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
- Provides full care for designated indoor plants.
- Removes ice and snow from walks, roads and lots, including the application of ice melter and road sand using snow plow and sanders.
- Installs, repairs and uses manual and electronic watering systems to ensure adequate moisture for plantings.
- Performs vector control including trapping and disposing of small animals and insects.
- May train and direct the work of other Engineering staff in the area
- Assists and serves as back up to other Engineering team members

Attention to Detail: The Groundskeeper should demonstrate a keen eye for detail to ensure that all landscape maintenance tasks, such as pruning, fertilizing, and watering, are performed accurately and effectively. Paying attention to small details contributes to the overall appearance and safety of the casino grounds.
Time Management: Effective time management is crucial for the Groundskeeper to complete tasks efficiently and meet deadlines for routine maintenance and repairs. Properly allocating time for different responsibilities allows them to maintain a well-organized and attractive outdoor environment for guests.
Adaptability: As the grounds maintenance requirements can vary with seasons, weather conditions, and events, the Groundskeeper should be adaptable to handle changing work demands. Being flexible in approach and open to learning new techniques ensures the grounds remain in excellent condition year-round.
Team Collaboration: While the Groundskeeper may work independently at times, they are also likely to collaborate with other Engineering staff or team members. Strong teamwork skills enable effective communication, mutual support, and a harmonious work environment, leading to successful maintenance efforts.

S.I.G.E. TRIBAL - STATE COMPACT & ACCOUNTING & INTERNAL CONTROL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Internal Control and Compact compliance regarding Casino Operations and ensure compliance with regulations of the Tribal Gaming Commission.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Level II
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certification from a college or technical school
- OR completion of a trade school apprenticeship program
- Two years as a groundskeeper in a commercial, industrial or facilities operations setting required.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Class II Gaming License issued by the Squaxin Island Gaming Commission
- Valid Washington State Driver's License
Other Qualifications:
- Applicable code requirements, including those Ability to work from plans and specifications
- Methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment
