Port Engineer
Description

The Port Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of the inland towing vessels within the company's fleet.  This role requires a strong understanding of marine engineering, vessel systems, and regulatory compliance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fleet. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our assets.

Requirements
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of inland towing vessels, including engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment
  • Execute established preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and availability of our fleet
  • Coordinate and supervise vessel dry-dockings, repairs, and major overhauls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Manage and track vessel maintenance schedules, work orders, and spare parts inventory to optimize vessel availability and minimize downtime
  • Conduct regular inspections of vessels to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with the operations team to address technical issues and provide engineering support for vessel operations
  • Review and approve technical specifications for vessel repairs and modifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews and maintenance staff to ensure safe and reliable vessel operation
  • Monitor and analyze vessel performance data to identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency gains
  • Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to recommend and implement best practices within the fleet
  • Demonstrates strong technology proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office

  • Familiarity with Coast Guard and Subchapter M regulations preferred
