Responsible for the overnight security, safety, and general oversight of the Cantata Adult Life Services campus, including the protection and safeguarding of residents, visitors, employees, and organizational property and assets. The Overnight Security team member conducts routine campus patrols, monitors security cameras, responds to calls and security concerns, and assists with emergencies as needed.
During the overnight shift, this position is also responsible for assigned janitorial and light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and maintaining designated common areas. Duties are performed under the direction of the Director of Engineering and in accordance with Cantata Adult Life Services' policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Conduct routine interior and exterior security patrols of the campus, buildings, grounds, entrances, parking areas, and other designated areas throughout the overnight shift.
- Monitor security cameras and surveillance systems throughout the shift and promptly investigate or report unusual, suspicious, or potentially unsafe activity.
- Protect Cantata property and assets from theft, vandalism, fire, accidents, unauthorized access, and other potential hazards.
- Answer and respond to incoming security calls and requests for assistance from residents, employees, visitors, and other authorized individuals.
- Provide security assistance to residents, employees, visitors, and customers as needed while maintaining a professional and courteous presence.
- Promptly notify the appropriate personnel and/or emergency services in the event of an emergency, safety concern, security incident, or other situation requiring escalation.
- Identify and report accidents, incidents, suspicious activity, safety concerns, fire hazards, property damage, and other security-related matters. Complete required documentation and notify the Director of Engineering or appropriate manager by the end of the shift or immediately when warranted.
- Perform assigned janitorial and cleaning duties during the overnight shift, including cleaning and maintaining common areas, entrances, hallways, restrooms, and other designated spaces.
- Complete routine janitorial tasks such as emptying trash, cleaning surfaces, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and maintaining the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned areas.
- Complete required security logs, incident reports, checklists, maintenance notifications, and other necessary forms and documentation accurately and timely.
- Assist with special projects, minor operational needs, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering or management.
- Attend required in-services, meetings, safety training, and educational programs in accordance with Cantata Adult Life Services' policies and procedures.
- Remain alert and attentive throughout the overnight shift and demonstrate the ability to respond appropriately and calmly to emergencies, changing conditions, and unexpected situations.
- Perform all assigned duties in accordance with Cantata Adult Life Services' policies, procedures, safety standards, and established protocols.
Knowledge/Skill/Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge of security and safety practices.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Ability and willingness to work harmoniously within a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally with a diverse group of people both inside and outside the organization.
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents/patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Must meet general health requirements as set forth by this facility.
- May be requested to work in excess of scheduled hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.)
- Work may be performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of patients/residents during emergency situations.
