The Group Manager leads and directs the sales organization across the five-store Phoenix area market — Avondale, Gilbert, Casa Grande, Glendale, and Phoenix — to achieve sales, margin, and profitability goals for the market. This role accomplishes market sales objectives by hiring, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and, when necessary, disciplining General Managers and store sales teams; by communicating job expectations; and by planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing performance against company standards and policies. The Group Manager reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Sales and serves as the primary point of accountability for market-level performance.
• Achieves market sales objectives by contributing sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and business reviews with the Senior Vice President of Sales; developing and executing action plans across all five Phoenix market stores; implementing quality and customer-service standards; conducting store audits; identifying trends; and driving sales system improvements and change management.
• Directs and develops General Managers at each of the five stores (Avondale, Gilbert, Casa Grande, Glendale, and Phoenix), holding each store accountable for written and delivered sales, closing rate, average ticket, traffic/door counts, and gross margin performance.
• Meets the market's sales and financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing and managing the annual budget across all five locations, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances to goal, and initiating corrective action plans in underperforming stores.
• Reviews period-to-date and month-to-date performance across the market, including written vs. finalized/delivered sales, category mix (including mattress and clearance), and store-by-store ranking, and communicates clear, data-driven direction and motivation to General Managers and store teams.
• Designs and recommends sales programs and sets short- and long-term sales strategies for the market in partnership with the Senior Vice President of Sales.
• Evaluates and implements new sales techniques and best practices across all five stores to increase market sales volume and closing rate.
• Ensures full compliance with company policies and procedures across all five stores, and partners with Human Resources on staffing, performance management, and employee relations matters.
• Builds bench strength within the market by identifying, developing, and mentoring future General Managers and sales leaders.
• Represents the Phoenix market in regional and company-wide meetings, presenting performance results, initiatives, and action plans to executive leadership.
• Owns the customer experience across the market by ensuring delivery of an exceptional customer experience at all five locations, monitoring customer satisfaction metrics, resolving escalated customer concerns, and driving continuous improvement in service standards across all store locations.
• Partners regularly with the market's Operations counterpart, dedicating meaningful time to align on store logistics, delivery performance, inventory flow, and facilities needs in support of the market's sales and customer experience goals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7+ years of progressive sales experience, including multi-unit or multi-store leadership experience; furniture or big-ticket retail experience strongly preferred.
• Proven track record managing a P&L and driving results across multiple locations.
• A wide degree of creativity, sound judgment, and latitude is expected.
• Strong motivation for sales leadership, with excellent presentation skills, performance management ability, and a results-driven, excellence-oriented approach.

• Willingness to build a long-term career in the furniture industry, with the ability to take on expanded leadership responsibility within the company as tenure is established.
• Strong communication skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret company documents and reporting; ability to build strong relationships with General Managers, peers, the executive team, customers, and other departments across the organization; ability to receive and follow instructions and translate direction into store-level execution.
• Computer skills: proficiency with the G.E.R.S. program, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint) for performance reporting and presentations.
• Problem-solving skills: ability to identify and resolve issues across multiple stores in a timely manner; develop alternative solutions; and work effectively in group problem-solving with General Managers and executive leadership.
• Ability to complete the MOR University leadership development program.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly among the five Phoenix market stores (Avondale, Gilbert, Casa Grande, Glendale, and Phoenix).
• Expectation to take on additional markets and expanded scope as the company grows, including onboarding and integrating new store locations into the market's operating rhythm as Mor Furniture expands.
• Must reside or relocate to the Phoenix market.
