Responsible To: 

Police Chief, Assistant Police Chief, Police Captains, and Police Sergeants


Position Summary:

This is a non-supervisory position that will work with the Citizens of Danville and other employees in a labor intense position representing the City of Danville. Will be responsible for providing police protection within the City of Danville along with other related duties ad required. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:

None


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

· Required to perform police service work under direct supervision in accordance with instructions and established procedures.

· Performs daily patrol activities including, but not limited to, traffic patrol, citizen complaints, accidents, and initial crime investigations.

· Required to participate in general patrol duties, including response to major police, fire, and accident calls.

· Must adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

· Responsible for preparing written reports, evaluations, and other related records.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Extensive knowledge of the geography of the City of Danville.

· Comprehensive knowledge of the Danville Police Department rules and regulations.

· Ability to work with the general public in a professional, courteous, and firm manner.

· Ability to understand and adhere to oral and written instructions.

· Skilled in the use of firearms, motor vehicles, and police surveillance and computer equipment.

· Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with police staff, public officials, employees, and the general public.

· Proven ability to maintain satisfactory physical conditioning levels required to perform essential job duties.


Education and Experience:

· HS Diploma or GED.

· Must have valid and current driver’s license.

· Prior sworn police officer experience with an established law enforcement agency is required.


Certifications:

· Current KY POPS certification is required.


Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to climb, jump, walk on uneven terrain, and stand for long periods of time.

· Must be able to site at workstation for extending periods of time.

· Walking, twisting, stooping, and bending on a regular basis.

· Ability to lift in excess of 50lbs on a regular basis.

· Ability to enter and exit police vehicles on a regular basis.

· Required to use mandated PPE such as standard issue police uniforms, safety vest, and weapons holster. 

· Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.


Compensation:

· $54,636 - $70,944 annually + KLEFPF incentive

· Candidates' starting salary will be commensurate with their level of police service experience.
